Sir Peter Heap is a retired and very well-traveled British diplomat, having had postings all over the world from Sri Lanka to Ireland to Venezuela to Nigeria. His final two posts were as British Ambassador to Brazil, and as a top British diplomat in Hong Kong and Macau. During spells in the Foreign Office in London his subject areas included West Africa and South East Asia, and he was on the Vietnam desk at the time of the Vietnam war. He subsequently has done a number of private sector jobs including advisor to the board of HSBC Investment Bank, a consultant with Hess Ltd, and Chairman of Regal Petroleum PLC.
His degree from Oxford University (Merton College) was in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He did his military service in Ghana in The Royal West Africa Frontier Force. He and his wife, Ann, live in London and Palm Beach.

Simon has 31 years of experience in security and private aviation services, and has spent the past 16 years in Asia. Simon was awarded the British Empire Medal for Meritorious Service by HM the Queen, which was presented by Governor Chris Patten at the Governor's Mansion in Hong Kong in 1992.
Simon Winchester is an award-winning author and Asia expert, and is perhaps most famous for his New York Times best-selling book The Professor & The Madman about the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary. He has written books about China, India, Korea, and the Asia/Pacific region as a whole. His most recent book is A Crack in the Edge of the World: America and the Great California Earthquake of 1906.
Simon was Asia-Pacific Editor of Condé Nast Traveler magazine for almost a decade, and is now the magazine's Editor-at-Large. He lived for many years in New Delhi and Hong Kong, and has written about every corner of Asia (and the rest of the world) for a variety of prestigious publications including Harper's, The Smithsonian, The National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times and The Atlantic Monthly.
Simon has undergraduate and graduate degrees in geology from Oxford University (St. Catherine's College). He was made Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by HM The Queen in 2006 in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
