Fly Air Bagan from Yangon to Putao. Transfer to Putao and enjoy an authentic local meal at one of Putao’s family-owned restaurants. After lunch, begin your trek to Mongho. You will pass through villages inhabited by the Mongho and Rawang Tribes. Marvel at their ancient way of living as you observe their daily life. The tribe members are friendly, and will allow you to take their photo. Spend the night at a local house, or set up camp in a tent.
Following breakfast, trek to Thathtaindum. More Rawang villages are located along your path as well as Lisu and a Khanhti Shan Village. When you’re feeling adventurous, cross the suspension bridge that takes you to immense forest. Explore the jungle and bubbling river. Chat with the local people to gain new cultural insight, learn about their way of life and make new friends. Spend the night at either a local house or set up camp in a tent.
Travel by foot to the last village, MaLi Rein. Visit the majestic Naim river that flows from the snowcapped mountains in the distance. Trek to TongHtu, a village situated along the Malikha river, famous for its delicious fresh produce. Spend the night at a local house or set up camp in a tent.
Begin the day by trekking back to Thathaindum. Pause for lunch in the village before continuing onto Mongho. Visit the Lisu and Rawang village one last time before reaching Putao by car. Spend the night at either a local house, or set up camp in a tent.
