Nagarkot
One of the larger cities in the Kathmandu Valley, Nagarkot is located 18 miles (30 kilometers) northeast of the city of Kathmandu. A tiny town with a population of less than 5,000, Nagarkot is known for its excellent location, which offers commanding views of the nearby valley and mountains; indeed, on a crystal-clear day, it is even possible to see the summit of Everest from here. In addition, the inhabitants of Nagarkot lead lives little altered by the passing of time, with few distractions in this idyllic, quaint village.
Guests should also note that Nagarkot is a good place to acclimate to the high altitude of the area; at 7,200 feet (2,195 meters), Nagarkot is a comfortable medium, neither too high nor too low.
