Remote Lands has done a great job in the vetting and hiring of their talented guides. They were excellent, professional, educational and personable.
One of Thailand's many beautiful islands, Koh Kood is located off Thailand's east coast and near the border with Cambodia. For regular visitors to the island, it is approximately five hours by land from Bangkok and another two hours by boat, making Koh Kood one of the country's more remote destinations. However, guests at the luxurious Soneva Kiri, the only resort on the island, can fly into a private airstrip on the resort's private charter plane from Bangkok. With its crystal-clear waters, immaculate white beaches, and swaying palms, Koh Kood is, for now, free of the tourist crowds common to other islands.

There are many options for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can go snorkeling, diving, kayaking, trekking and cycling. The waters around Koh Kood are teeming with fish of all varieties. Try your hand at angling or pay a visit to local fishermen to learn about their craft.
Soneva Kiri is located on the remote but accessible island of Koh Kood in the northeast area of the Gulf of Thailand. The resort was developed using the principles of ecologically sustainable design. The 42 environmentally friendly villas overlooking the Gulf of Thailand include private infinity pools and outdoor terraces with lounge chairs. Every room category comes with personal butler service, and several villas also feature private spa suites. The Six Senses Spa features 11 double treatment rooms and four rooms featuring private relaxation areas. The resort has many dining options, including a formal dining room with Thai-inspired organic cuisine, a hut that features an expansive wood-fired rock oven and tandoor, and a Thai and Mediterranean restaurant where guests can opt for traditional kantoke seating (around a short table on cushions). There are also two cocktail lounges, an ice cream parlor, a chocolate room and a gourmet cheese vault. At arrival and departure, guests are escorted by speed boat just over a mile to and from the arrival pier and Soneva Kiri Airport. From there, flights to Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) take 60 minutes.
