Sage Foundation is charitable organization focused on the neediest children of Cambodia - orphans, street children and those from families so poor they have no chance of an education. Sage is an educational charity that built the first secondary school in the Siem Reap area, in nearby Prey Chrouk, in 2006.
Through donations kindly given by their customers, their own contributions and the efforts of many volunteers, they now ensure the education of over 1,100 children. They have a constant requirement for native speakers to help teach English at the schools. One of the working objectives at the school is to provide an education that prepares the children for employment in the booming tourist industry surrounding Angkor Wat only 25 miles to the East, as an alternative livelihood to farming. Most skilled employment in Siem Reap requires the ability to communicate in English. The current levels of English in the schools are quite basic, and it is impossible for the sole English speaking teacher to cover all 505 children in the Secondary school and 637 children in the primary school. Therefore Sage is not seeking Americans and Europeans with teaching degrees, but simply native English-speaking people who are patient and enthusiastic, and love children.
All contributions to Sage Foundation go directly to support the neediest Cambodian children, and to providing funds for future investment in educational and social projects.
