The Datai

Perhaps the most luxurious resort on Langkawi, the Datai unites a location sheltered by dense rainforest, with all the comforts of a five-star property and sleek architecture that blends seamlessly with its surroundings. Fifty-four deluxe rooms, 40 villas and 18 suites are hidden away in the lush jungle only a short walk from the resort’s private, white-sand beach. Pool villas have their own plunge pool, Jacuzzi and day bed. All accommodations are decorated in rich colors, with deep brown timber, cream-colored walls and plenty of windows for views in to the verdant surroundings. The Pavilion restaurant serves authentic Thai cuisine in the canopy of the rainforest, while the Dining Room has western specialties and Malaysian dishes. The Beach Club offers a dining venue with unobstructed views of the Andaman Sea. The Datai perfectly combines its remote location with a wealth of amenities: a world-class spa in an open-air pavilion, two swimming pools, two tennis courts, mountain biking facilities, water sports facilities, a well-equipped fitness center and an 18-hole championship golf course. There is no business center, however, Internet access is available in the hotel’s library. The Datai is 30 minutes from Langkawi International Airport (LGK).

The Four Seasons

The Four Seasons Langkawi resort is set on the blissful Tanjung Rhu, one of the island’s finest beaches, and known for its luxuriant foliage and dramatic cliffs. The 91 guest pavilions and villas have views of the Andaman Sea, and are decorated in a mixture of Malaysian and modern touches, with timber floors, high ceilings and breezy verandas. Some villas and all pavilions have outdoor bathing and showers. All villas and pavilions have wi-fi access. There is a spa with six spa pavilions built of tropical wood around reflecting pools. There is also a separate pavilion for yoga and meditation, and three restaurants. Serai has a breakfast buffet and outdoor patio where the menu features innovative southern Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Ikan-Ikan, built to resemble a traditional Malaysian residence, has a spectacular view of the ocean from its teakwood deck and features an eclectic mix of Thai, Chinese and Malay cuisine. Poolside dining and a full-service bar are on offer at Café Kelapa. The fitness center has both weight training and cardiovascular equipment, and there is a large pool designed with many small alcoves off to the side for a private place to relax. The business center has high-speed Internet workstations, secretarial services and wi-fi access in meeting rooms. The hotel is 25 minutes from Langkawi International Airport (LGK).
