The Majestic Malacca
Originally a 1920’s mansion steeped in Malacca’s rich multicultural history, this 54-room hotel meticulously preserves the period detail from its past. From the original porcelain flooring and teakwood fittings to the intricate artwork and antiques, every aspect reflects the heritage of the region. The rooms are exquisite –polished timber floors, four-poster beds, silk chaises, and claw-foot bathtubs. This regional focus extends to the hotel spa, which boasts therapies based on Baba-Nyonya or Peranakan culture, a unique combination of Chinese and Malay influences. Guests can also unwind in the library with louvered windows and leather armchairs, or in the outdoor swimming pool and fully equipped fitness center. Dining here is a treat, not only because the main dining room has large windows overlooking the Malacca River, but because Nyonya cuisine is an eclectic mix of culinary influences. For something simpler, guests can opt for midday refreshments or cocktails at the lounge or at the bar. The hotel is situated on the southwestern coast of peninsular Malaysia, facing the Straits of Malacca. It is approximately a one hour-and 45-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur and a three-hour drive from Singapore.
