Sake and Shintoism on the Slopes
Japan
On Hokkaido, go moonlight skiing on perfect powder for Omisoka, the Japanese word for New Year's Eve. After soaking in a soothing hot spring, join the locals in a raucous bonenkai, or "forget the year" party, complete with sparkling sake and toshikoshi noodles, which symbolize crossing from one year to the next. Ring 108 bells at a Shinto shrine to celebrate life and new beginnings.
Moonlit Balinese Beach Party
Indonesia
Charter a private luxury yacht to a secluded beach, arriving just in time to witness the full moon rising on New Year's Eve. This rare "blue moon" (a second moon in one calendar month) is seen as especially auspicious, providing a mystical backdrop for the raging party to come. DJs and bartenders will be on hand to keep the mood going until dawn when you hike to a live volcano, per local tradition, to make New Year's offerings.
Royal Treatment
India
Transport yourself back to the romantic Raj era at Ahilya Fort, an 18th century palace and now a boutique hotel. Don your finest sari or kurta and be the honored guests of Prince Shivaji Rao Holkar, son of the last Maharajah of Indore, who will host a lavish Indian feast complete with musicians, dancers and fortunetellers.
Spiritual Rejuvenation
Bhutan
Greet the New Year in far-flung Bumthang where the hours tick by like days, providing travelers with a true getaway. Stay at Amankora next to Wangdichholing Palace, the Kingdom's first palace that is now a monastery. On New Years Day share breakfast with the monks, meditate and receive a private blessing.

Private Air Travel
Would you love to fly privately in Asia but assume it's too expensive? An economical alternative to flying the entire way privately is to fly commercially to and from Asia, and pick up a jet in a hub city such as Hong Kong, Bangkok or Delhi. For an extended family or small group of friends, it can make a lot of sense to opt for this hybrid solution and charter a luxury aircraft that seats 8-16 people.

Prices for private air travel within Asia start as low as $120,000 for 2 people for a 10 day all-inclusive journey to three countries on a King Air, and $200,000 on a Challenger or Gulfstream. Please call for details.
