Remote Lands Nabs Ink in Luxe Travel Press

Remote Lands, the New York and Bangkok-based ultra-luxe Asia private tour operator, recently has captured the attention of some of the most esteemed publications in the travel industry, including American Express’s Departures magazine, National Geographic Traveler, Condé Nast Traveler, Town & Country, and more.  True to the company’s name, we have been recognized for the creativity of our bespoke trips to such far-flung locales as North Korea – the ultimate remote land – southern Laos, and Myanmar, among other destinations. Below is a sample of some of Remote Lands’ most notable recent publicity. Please call +1 646 415 8092 or email info@remotelands.com for more information.

Departures
North Korea

The exclusive Amex Platinum Card holder magazine yielded the floor to Remote Lands co-founder and CEO Catherine Heald, who published a first-person account of her reconnaissance trip to the “hermit kingdom” in the magazine’s “Dispatch” column in its March/April issue. “North Korea is not for everyone, but for those intrepid few who have been almost everywhere, it is the final frontier,” said Heald in her communiqué, “En Route from North Korea.”

National Geographic Traveler
Undiscovered Southern Laos

For the second time in as many years, National Geographic Traveler selected a Remote Lands itinerary for its “Tours of a Lifetime” feature. The honoree this time was “Undiscovered Southern Laos,” a journey that includes dramatic waterfalls, Khmer temple ruins at the millennium-old Wat Phu, the “4,000 Islands” area of the southern Mekong River, French colonial vestiges, coffee and tea plantations, and unique interactions with local hill-tribe villagers.

Town & Country
Asia Fashion Weeks

In the September issue, Town & Country asked “some of its favorite people,” a distinguished group that includes Catherine Heald, Barbara Walters, Caroline Herrera, and Anne Bass, to take the pulse of their industry for “What’s New, What’s Next” this autumn.  “Asia fashion weeks – my only problem is deciding which ones to attend,” said Heald. “Shanghai, Singapore, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Hong Kong are my top choices.”

Condé Nast Traveler
Myanmar (Burma)

Ready to move beyond the tried-and-true?  Then check out Remote Lands’ bespoke itineraries for Myanmar, says Condé Nast Traveler. The publication’s “Traveler’s Forecast” for 2010 (destinations “that adventurous travelers will be heading to this year”) cited Remote Lands’ tours in Burma, which include such activities as a private kickboxing lesson in Yangon, hot-air ballooning over the temples of Pagan, and treks to the 10,000-plus foot summit of Mount Victoria.

Town & Country
China

This past spring, in a feature chronicling the rigors of family holiday planning, T&C editor Heidi Mitchell called her 2008 journey to China designed by Remote Lands “perhaps my most memorable trip ever,” emphasizing the lasting impact that unique experiences like visiting a farmer’s home and opera-mask painting lessons had on her family. “Remote Lands arranged every detail,” wrote Mitchell, recommending our company “For Lovers of the Exotic.”

PRIVATE JET HOLIDAY
Would you love to fly privately in Asia but assume it's too expensive? An economical option is to fly commercially to and from Asia, and pick up a jet in a hub city such as Hong Kong, Bangkok or Delhi. For an extended family or small group of friends, it can make a lot of sense to opt for this hybrid solution and charter a luxury aircraft that seats 6-10 people.

Amongst the destinations that are ideal for a private jet vacation are the cities of Rajasthan in northern India, Thailand and the countries of Indochina (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos), the islands of Indonesia, and China. A two-week holiday for two in Rajasthan or Thailand/Indochina, for example, can be as little as $80,000 on a King Air. Citations, Hawkers, Challengers, Falcons, Gulfstreams and other light to heavy jets are also available in Asia. Please call for further details.
