The Cotai Strip

Where once was only water between Coloane and Taipa, a strip of reclaimed land has been built on, connecting the islands. The Cotai Strip has become world famous as the "Las Vegas strip of the east", and those looking for the thrill of the game will delight in hitting the tables at some of Macao's glitziest casinos, including The Venetian - the largest casino in the world. Besides the glamor of the tables, Cotai is home to a number of world-class hotels, many of which boast gambling floors of their own, not to mention designer shops and facilities.

Bowling

Built for the East Asian Games in 2005, Macao Dome is a world-class bowling center. Suitable for families, the first four of the center's 24 lanes feature raisable buffers, making life a little easier for beginners.

City of Dreams

Following the Venetian, City of Dreams opened in 2009, also featuring a giant casino and fashion shops, as well as three hotels and the world's most expensive theatre show. The stage for "House of Dancing Water" holds enough water to fill five Olympic swimming pools and the whole production cost US$250 million to build.

Go karting

Visitors looking for thrills beyond the tables can fulfil their need for speed at the southern end of Cotai. Here, the go-kart track is ideal for families and groups looking for a little fun. All the gear can be hired at the center and the loop takes about a minute to navigate.

The Venetian

Based on its older sister in Las Vegas, Macao's Venetian cost 2.4 billion dollars and opened its doors in August 2007. The world's largest casino, it is also the fifth-largest building by area. Within its vast sprawl are canals lined with Venetian-style streets, designer and souvenir shops and, of course, gambling floors.
