Situated in ultimate seclusion, 60 miles from the nearest town, the beautifully-designed Borneo Rainforest Lodge denotes understated elegance. The hotel’s 31 eco-friendly chalets feature high ceilings, dark wood panels and incandescent draping lights, all made from locally-sourced, recyclable material. The chalets use ceiling fans rather than air conditioners and have outdoor tubs, decks and patios boasting panoramic views of the million-year-old rainforest: drenched in the vivacity of the surrounding tropics, there is perhaps no better place to experience undisturbed nature. Guests will be living amongst nature’s finest trees and flora which douse the rainforest in exotic, vibrant color: the Danum Valley provides a home to many rare and endangered animals including the Clouded Leopard, Orangutan, the Proboscis Monkey and around 300 species of bird. Further, the lodge provides an outstanding spa with luxurious treatments which guests may enjoy after an exhilarating jungle trek.
All chalets provide panoramic views of the surrounding rainforest, allowing guests to feel truly immersed in nature. Guests may choose between river view and jungle view deluxe chalets, jungle view standard chalets and the new selection of one- and two-storey premium villas.
At 310 square feet, these cozy, relaxing chalets offer panoramic views of the rainforest from their windows and outdoor decks, which are furnished with sofas. Interiors are fitted with double and twin beds, and the white walls and lightly finished woods foster a truly rejuvenating atmosphere.

Guests can consider upgrading to the newly remolded Premium Deluxe rooms to enjoy more space, larger balconies, and expansive views framed through even bigger glass windows.

Nestled beside the river and carefully designed to create a seamless integration between indoor and outdoor space, these two-story villas feature two decks, one of which has expansive views of the Danum River from the second floor. Guests at Borneo Rainforest Lodge will find themselves thoroughly entertained throughout their stay. Days can be spent receiving a variety of pampering treatments at the outstanding in-house spa or exploring nature’s finest rainforest, with expert guides ensuring guests see all the jungle has to offer.
The lodge is known for having some of the best guiding available in the country, and with several thousand hectares of rainforest to see, such a service is certainly needed. There are trails around the lodge and treks through the primary rainforest to be had, and macaques, gibbons, red leaf monkeys, hornbills, and even orangutans are frequently spotted. Weather permitting, guests can tube down the Danum River or climb across the canopy walkway of approximately 300 meters among the treetops to catch amazing views. Night tours on foot or by vehicle can also be arranged, allowing guests to spot the reclusive nocturnal animals in the darkness.
The spa offers a number of treatments, some of which draw on Dusun culture. For example, the Borneo Rainforest Treatment traditional massage is intended to relieve tension and improve blood circulation. There are also other treatments aimed at helping guests relax after long days spent trekking. Guests can choose from the Borneo Rainforest Treatment, the Danum Valley Trekking Treatment or the Bird Watching and Shoulder Treatment. Guests may even bird watch during some of the treatments, and there is also an area devoted to foot massages.
One of the most spectacular walkways in Sabah, offering multiple viewing platforms spanning approximately 984 feet in length, the tree top canopy walk stands at 85 feet at the highest point - an incredible experience and photo opportunity.
Guests may enjoy delicious in-house catering, perfect after a long day’s jungle trek or in between spa sessions and pool dips. Delightful jungleside dining awaits; the lodge can cater to all different dietary needs and provides meals complete with fresh ingredients and delicious flavors.
