Kandy

As you land at Bandaranaike International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your guide and escorted to a private car to be transported through Sri Lanka’s beautiful scenery to Kandy. After checking into your hotel, spend the afternoon exploring the historic city, from its fabulous bazaars to its sacred sites.

The two-story main house is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, which have avocado, jackwood, papaya, Sri Lankan orange and Kithul trees - the perfect setting for afternoon tea complete with Kandy House’s desserts made with treacle from Kithul blossoms.

Trincomalee

After breakfast, head eastwards to the coastal town of Trincomalee. Take a tour around the naval and air force bases of one of Sri Lanka’s most important seaports and explore the ancient Tamil temple of Koneswaram. In the evening, retire to your comfortable seaside hotel.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel before you hit the beach for a day of oceanic exploits. Trincomalee’s beaches offer a smorgasbord of activities including fishing and whale watching, while the conditions are also ideal for scuba diving and surfing. Relax back at your hotel in the evening.

Dambulla

After breakfast, bid farewell to the coast as you head towards Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s capital between the 11th and 13th centuries. Here, explore the country’s well-preserved history at the Royal Palace and within the relic houses, with their beautiful carved Buddhas. In the afternoon, it’s time to visit the abundant wildlife inhabiting Minneriya National Park. Look out for elephants, wild boar, jackals and countless species of birds and butterflies, then spend a comfortable night in Dambulla.

Shaped like a bird with its wings drawn out and carved into the side of a mountain overlooking the eighth wonder of the world (Sigiriya), this hotel offers guests something really special.

History: The hotel was constructed between the years 1992-1995 on the outskirts of an area known as Dambulla, thought to be inhabited from as early as the 7th to 3rd century BC. Here, statues and paintings dating back to the 1st century BC can be found in caves.

Enjoy your final breakfast in the highlands and get ready for the big city as you transfer to modern-day capital, Colombo. Marvel at the cultures vying for precedence as sparkling skyscrapers stand next to colonial buildings and among traditional temples. You can shop for designer goods in gleaming malls or pick up treasures in the bazaar. Then, check into your hotel for the final night of your romantic honeymoon.
