Remote Lands Newsletter December 2014

The festive season is upon us once again, and this year we'd like to celebrate by sharing with you some of the community projects we work with in different parts of Asia. We strongly believe in giving back to the people who provide such a warm welcome and such amazing experiences for our clients, and we support various organisations in the region that dedicate themselves to helping local people (and animals!). We believe tourism should have a positive impact, and as well as supporting these projects we also enable our clients to get involved in a hands-on capacity during their trip.

In this seasonal newsletter we take a look at four of our favourite projects, in Bhutan, Cambodia, Thailand and Tibet. All can be included in your bespoke travel itinerary, so email us on [email protected] or call +1 646 415 8092 to find out how you can give something back on your next holiday. And now all that remains is for us to wish you happy holidays for you and yours, and we look forward to working with you in 2015!

The foundation looks at life through the eyes of the most vulnerable people, understanding their dreams, and providing means for them to reach out to achieve those dreams.

Tibetan Village Project Tibetan Village Project (TVP) is a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development while preserving the rich cultural heritage of Tibet. The organization was founded in 2001 by Tamdin Wangdu to fund a medical clinic in after he lost his father in the village. Several years later, TVP has expanded its program in other villages to support more clinics, schools and community projects throughout the Tibetan Plateau. Most of its projects are small-scale initiatives that work directly with Tibetan villagers and with local government through project-coordinators chosen from each village who know the local situation, understand the culture, and speak the language.
