What Others Say
Here is a small selection of the kind words our clients have said about us recently.
A father and daughter from NYC
"We thought we would take a moment while we are between flights back to New York to give you some thoughts on our trip. In short, it was fantastic. From my initial conversation with Victoria thru boarding the plane to leave Chiang Mai, every detail was planned and handled perfectly. You took all of the stress out of travel, especially when I did not have the time to do any advance research or planning. The itinerary, locations and advance materials outlining our detailed itinerary were excellent. In fact, the format of the tour itinerary was really well done.
Of course, the best planning and awesome locales would not be the same without the high quality guides. Each and every guide was different, incredibly kind and helpful. [They] literally went above and beyond at every step to ensure we fully understood their respective city’s history and culture. No detail was overlooked and their attention to our comfort and experience was incredible.
As for the hotels, one was better than the next. Each general manager made a point to welcome us and make us feel special, and allowed late check out whenever requested. [...] Each hotel was spectacular.
As for activities, the circus in Cambodia should not be missed. [...] Finally, while I can’t promise where people will travel, I will absolutely and positively be recommending Remote Lands to as many people as will listen to me. The nearly two weeks with my daughter was fantastic, and I will remember it forever. Thank you for helping make it possible."
Couple from New York City
"We would like to thank you for an unforgettable experience travelling through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. We are experienced travelers and have had first class tours in Europe, Africa and Asia. Our experience with Remote Lands exceeded all of them.
From the moment we started planning the trip with you, your probing of our preferences and needs was exceptional. One of us has severe dietary restrictions and your accommodating it, and arranging for accommodation at every stop, was superb. We are all 70 years old. In addition to the usual tourist sites, you recommended experiences for us that we probably would never have chosen for ourselves - from a late night tour of Hanoi on the back of a Vespa motorcycle to eating dinner on a street curb, to attending a dance school, to going to a night club -the “extra” activities were all great. But your recommendation that we make a charity gift to build a well for a poor family in Cambodia, and then go visit “our” operational well, was a memory to cherish for a lifetime. Thank you for conceiving that experience and for letting us live it.
Your pickups at each airport, bypassing the customs lines, made travelling easy. Your vans that took us around were luxurious and well stocked. But it was the guides you selected in each city that made our trip so memorable. Each guide told us they felt they were working for the very best tour group in their country (and they were). Each was superbly knowledgeable and extremely personable. They openly shared their life stories along with their city’s and country’s histories. They were sophisticated and they were “real”. They made our trip the most special event that we will cherish. Congratulations on having formed, and for running, a travel group that we think is the best in the world. We wish you continued success."
A Family from New York City
"I wanted to write on behalf of my family with our happiest and most sincere gratitude for the lifetime experience your team helped us create! The trip was truly what we all needed - relaxing, experiential, full of culture and another perfect way for us all to connect. Remote Lands were truly fantastic to work with. [...] As we have seen in our other experiences, the guides are what make the experience and in this trip they most surely standout.
Hong Kong and the wonder of one of the globes most important economic centers captured fully for us in a few days. After a long time sitting on planes getting to HK we were treated, our guide, upon arriving and from that first meeting we knew we were in great hands. Our guide not only did a fantastic job on our exploring but took great care of us. Our guide's love of his city and culture came through and he was so very welcoming of our questions, needs and requests. Dim sum!!!!! Something we wanted to experience in HK and our guide took us to an amazing, local place and as a result we experienced my best dish of the trip: HK style roast pork. The trip with our guide as the anchor could NOT have started out better!
Upon meeting our guide at the exciting luggage carousel in Chiang Mai, we were immediately welcomed as family and into the country and culture. To say that we had a guide is to do, I think, a disservice to the experience our guide tries to cultivate with his new friends - he was there at every step to help us, guide us and in a very unassuming way. He listened to our conversations and adapted our experience as we went along tailored to our interests but without ever having to ask. We left Chiang Mai feeling happy and filled with joy and we cannot thank our guide enough.
Bangkok, the heat and our guide. Unfortunately for her, I think our guide caught us at the tail end of our amazing trip and we confronted the pretty impressive combination of heat and humidity in Bangkok. Despite our own discomfort at the weather, our guide was fantastic - caring and fully aware of trying to help us see our targets. A lovely professional who you can tell takes pride in her services. We are happy that we stuck with our wishes and went to Gaggan. We had the most memorable and wonderful dining experience which we will remember forever. In fact, the day before we arrived, it won #1 restaurant in Asia for the 4th consecutive year and we even got to meet Gaggan himself!
Thank you again. We especially want to highlight here the guides we connected with throughout our trip, and we also want to mention that the experiences were all too notch. We look forward to our next experience that you and your team help us to create."

We had a fantastic time exploring Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam with Remote Lands. The trip was beautifully organized to ensure we saw it all, yet paced so that we had plenty of time for spontaneous discovery. The guides were superb—they clearly love their work—and as a result, we received fascinating insights into the culture of each country. The pre-planning by the Remote Lands team made sure our specific areas of interest were also covered and we particularly enjoyed the private market tour, cooking class and dinner in Hoi An. As you would expect, accommodations and transfers were all top notch. We are looking forward to our next journey!
