Asia Luxury Travel Writer (New York Office)

As a Luxury Asia Travel Writer you will create Asia travel itineraries for our UHNWI clients as well as research and write copy for new travel experiences and destinations. While excellent writing skills are crucial, a strong visual sense is just as important. This positions requires a creative spark as well as an attention to detail that will allow you to translate every detail of a complex brief into an itinerary that accommodates all client needs. Finally, a sense of personal responsibility, positive attitude and sense of teamwork will allow you to excel.

Day-to-Day:

•  Full-time position working in our midtown Manhattan offices 9:30-6:30, Monday through Friday. No telecommuting.

•  Junior-level support position with potential for greater responsibilities over time

•  Assist senior staff writers to format, research, write, and fact check detailed client itineraries

•  Create new itineraries as well as marketing materials, based on highly detailed briefs

•  Assist with the upkeep of the Remote Lands website as well as diverse marketing materials

•  Contribute to company databases

Additional Opportunities:

•  Take on a larger editorial role, curating our copy with a discerning ear for tone and intent as well as grammar

•  Assist in managing detailed spreadsheets for trip coordination 

Qualifications:

•  Excellent writing, editing and communications skills

•  Love of travel; knowledge of Asia a plus

•  Attention to detail that will allow you to translate every detail of a complex brief into an itinerary that accommodates all client needs

•  Expertise with Adobe InDesign highly-favored; Creative Suite familiarity a plus

•  General technical proficiency, including familiarity with Word, Excel, Acrobat, HTML etc.

•  Passionate, enthusiastic, optimistic and hardworking with can-do attitude

•  Team player, on a small tight-knit team where you play a significant role

•  Willingness to assist with a wide range of tasks including administrative tasks

Asia Luxury Travel Specialist (New York Office)

  • Fully responsible for and accountable to assigned clients – the Account Manager will oversee the full cycle of trip planning and see it through to completion and client follow up.
  • Designing and creating detailed, creative and accurate travel itineraries and related documents for Remote Lands’ clients. This may entail research of new destinations and new activities and writing new text.
  • Professional and timely communication with clients and travel agents by phone, email and in person
  • Use initiative to actively support and assist across all aspects of Remote Lands operations to ensure the smooth and efficient care of all client and company needs, including actively supporting and assisting team members as needed.
  • Create, maintain and update highly detailed spreadsheets of travel and client account information including activity sheets
  • Coordinating with Remote Lands’ operations staff in Asia to plan and execute all aspects of client trips. Teamwork and communication is essential.
  • Timely and professional answering of incoming telephone calls, and taking accurate messages as required. No call should need to ring more than 3 times before being answered.
  • Accurate and timely invoicing and collection of clients’ payments
  • Maintain and update internal databases, include destination activities and itinerary copy.
  • Writing original copy for client itineraries in Remote Lands’ style
  • Researching special interests for client itineraries. (culture, food, family activities, art, architecture, gardens, historic attractions, etc.)
  • Proficiency in the use of company software and programs, including In- Design, Excel, 5PM Project Management System and CMS.
  • Using initiative to develop new experiences, destinations, and partnerships
  • Assisting with administrative projects and activities as needed
  • Contributing to Remote Lands’ blog
  • Attending travel industry events and occasionally travelling to Asia as a professional representative of Remote Lands
  • Maintains a respectful and clean work environment, including but not limited to personal workspace, shared space and kitchen area.
