Character: Armenian heritage can found in little touches throughout the property, from sculptures in the courtyard that feature Armenian folktale imagery, to pre-medieval Armenian script decorating the walls, quaint arched doorways, handcrafted furniture made from local iron and basalt, and hand-woven Armenian carpets and woolen blankets.
Countryside Hideaway: A charming Armenian castle perched by the river, the Tufenkian Avan Dzoraget is a tranquil countryside retreat where guests can escape from the city to relax and spend time in the picturesque forested hills of the Caucasus Mountains.
Location: Just a four-hour drive from Yerevan, the scenic Debed gorge area offers a slew of outdoor activities from hiking and biking to horseback riding and white water rafting. The historic Haghpat Monastery Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just a 15-minute drive away.
Medium rooms fit two twin size beds and overlook the hotel courtyard. The large room offers a bit more space and a king-size bed as well as a sofa bed.
The Suites are located on the second and third floors in the main building and feature a bedroom and separate lounge area. The lounge has plush armchairs and a comfortable sofa bed that can easily accommodate small children or a third guest. Suites come with a private balcony overlooking the Debed River and surrounding canyon.
The spacious Presidential Suite measures 70.5 sqm and offers a bedroom with king-size bed, ensuite bathroom with bathtub and shower, a separate lounge area, as well as a small dining room with seating for ten, and a private balcony with remarkable views of the surrounding mountains and river.
The Tower Suite is the largest category located in the second building, offering 33.5 sqm of space and ideal for families. The unique floor plan features two levels and a spiral staircase; there are a total of two bedrooms, one on each floor.
Located on the third floor of the second building, Junior Suites offer scenic views of the surrounding countryside from its many windows and French balcony.
This two-story guest room is located on the first floor of the second building and features a French balcony which opens to views of the Debed River.
Families and children can make use of the play room to keep little ones entertained.
The fitness center is equipped with cardiovascular equipment, table tennis, and free weights.
Spa facilities at Tufenkian Avan Dzoraget include an indoor pool, a hot tub and sauna. A selection of relaxing massages can be booked.
The Armenian and Georgian menu pays homage to the hotel’s location halfway between the capitals of the friendly neighboring countries. Guests can choose between the stylish dining room or enjoy their meal and drinks alfresco on the riverside terrace.
