The acclaimed Grandest Tour returns offering guests seven diverse countries in just one journey by private jet, with stays at six iconic Aman retreats. Over three weeks, journey from ultra-modern Tokyo through the vast continent of Asia to the ruins of the Classical Era in Greece. Guests will also spend two nights in the ancient silk road city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan.

Our jet is a luxurious custom-outfitted Airbus ACJ 319 (or similar), modified to feature 19 seats instead of the standard 130, and is one of the finest ultra-long-range private aircraft available. The interior is configured in a spacious lounge design—there are two large cabins—creating a relaxed, comfortable, and social atmosphere that is quite unlike commercial jets.

DESIGNED FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T DO GROUP TRAVEL

Each journey accommodates a maximum of 16-18 guests, ensuring ample space and an exceptionally comfortable in-flight experience, where you want to relax with a book or enjoy a cocktail with new friends. So, while expeditions involve a fun social group atmosphere, they retain the benefits of private travel. With this hybrid model, we describe the Aman Jet Expeditions as being designed for people who do not usually do group travel.

  • Fitted with 19 seats
  • Two pilots, two flight attendants, one chef & one engineer
  • Spacious lounge configuration
  • Three restrooms

Aman-Tokyo.jpg

An urban sanctuary atop the shimmering Otemachi Tower, Aman Tokyo is a monument to the modern-day Japanese capital, a place where dynamism is tempered with serenity. History, commerce and culture fuse truly cosmopolitan yet intrinsically Japanese aesthetics, offering fascinating juxtapositions at every turn.

Amanoi-3.jpg

Perched over Vinh Hy Bay, this secluded retreat inspires both adventure and serenity. There is much to explore within the bounds of Nui Chua National Park: the private beach and colorful coral reefs, and the protected wilderness hugging 20 miles of coastline. Equally powerful paths of discovery are uncovered in the healing philosophy of the Aman Spa, and in pioneering Wellness Villas that offer total immersion in this exceptionally beautiful setting.

Amandayan.jpg

Overlooking the rooftops of Lijiang’s UNESCO-protected Old Town, Amandayan immerses guests in the culture of the Nakhi people. The resort’s design reflects traditional Nakhi architecture, while its vantage point offers sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Beyond its elegant courtyards, guests can explore the dramatic landscapes of Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of China’s greatest natural wonders.

Amankora-Paro.jpg

Situated in Balakha village, the 24-Suite Amankora Paro contrasts rustic elements with contemporary design. Its architecture features natural rammed-earth walls, gently sloping roofs and wood-paneled interiors. Centered around a large flagstone courtyard, a lime-washed stone pavilion houses the living and dining room facilities, library and outdoor terrace, all warmed by fireplaces.

Samarkand-Regency-1.jpg

Set within the Silk Road Samarkand resort complex, Samarkand Regency offers a contemporary base on the edge of the city, a short walk from the Rowing Canal and close to the resort’s “Eternal City” ethnopark.  Its modern, high-rise design is paired with full-service facilities including indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and wellness centre, and a 20th-floor Sky Bar with terrace views.

Amanbagh-India.jpg

Amanbagh is a verdant oasis of mature palm, fruit and eucalyptus trees lying within a walled compound once the staging area for royal hunts. Evoking the palatial elegance of the Mughal era, Amanbagh provides a tranquil base from which to explore the rich heritage of Rajasthan, India’s dramatic frontier region. The topography of the surrounding Alwar region consists of sandy plains interspersed with craggy hills, a stark contrast to Amanbagh’s verdant setting.

Amanzoe,-Greece.jpg

Designed by renowned architect, the late Ed Tuttle, Amanzoe is situated on a hilltop close to the town of Porto Heli on the eastern coast of the Peloponnese peninsula. Set on a gentle rise surrounded by undulating olive groves, Amanzoe’s 360-degree views take in idyllic Peloponnese countryside, beaches dotted with rocky coves, and the glittering Aegean Sea.

Guiding You Throughout The Expedition
Samurai-2026.jpg

Lessons of the Samurai

Join a Japanese blademaster for an interactive lesson in swordsmanship. Japan’s ancient samurai swords were once employed during battle, and their use is today considered an artform. During your sword lesson you will practice movements evolved from the techniques used by samurai in battle.

Sushi-2026.jpg

The Art of Sushi

Master the art of sushi making under the expert guidance of a fifth-generation sushi chef.  Learn how to prepare sushi’s basic rice with rice vinegar, slice various fish and vegetable ingredients, and roll, cut and display the pieces, before enjoying your own (as well as your professional instructor’s) creations for lunch.

Sumo-2026.jpg

Giants of the Dohyō

Meet with retired sumo wrestlers to learn more about the ancient artform. Sumo is a serious sport that combines weight, speed, intellect, technique and guile, and many ritual elements such as purifying the ring with salt. In this informational session, you will be free to ask questions and, if you wish, you can also don a ‘sumo suit’ and try your hand at the sport.

Lijiang-1.jpg

Step Back in Time in Lijiang’s Old Town

Wander the cobbled alleyways of Lijiang’s UNESCO Old Town before heading into the dramatic Tiger Leaping Gorge, where the Jinsha River carves through sheer cliffs rising thousands of feet above.

Where-the-River-Leaps.jpg

Where the River Leaps

Experience Yunnan’s most storied walk at Tiger Leaping Gorge. Follow a high trail above the Jinsha River as it cuts between Jade Dragon and Haba snow peaks. Switchbacks, farm hamlets, and cliffside viewpoints give a true sense of Yunnan’s scale — walk a full section or keep it to shorter lookouts.

Tiger’s-Nest.jpg

Hike to Tiger’s Nest

Rise early for a moderately difficult half-day hike to the resplendent cliffside Tiger’s Nest monastery. Tiger’s Nest, or Taktshang Goempa, is one of Bhutan’s most revered monuments. It hangs off the face of a cliff nearly 3,000 feet above the valley floor. The legend states that Guru Rinpoche flew into Bhutan on a mythical tigress and meditated in a cave before bringing Buddhism to Bhutan.

Taj-2026.jpg

Touchdown at the Taj Mahal

Jet into the city of Agra for a specially-arranged touchdown at the iconic Taj Mahal, on your way to Uzbekistan. An immense 17th-century Murghal marble monument, the Taj Mahal remains one of the world’s great archeological masterpieces of form and function, which every visitor to India should try to see at least once.

Geometry-in-Light-2.jpg

Geometry in Light

Take in Registan Square for an exclusive magical laser light and sound show, illuminating the different maddrasas and portraying the 2750-year-old Silk Road history of Samarkand.

Dawn-Safari.jpg

Dawn Safari

Roll out before first light for a 4WD game drive through Aravalli grassland, dry forest, and cliffs. Sightings in Sariska National Park can include tiger, leopard, crocodile, antelope, langur, and macaque, with medieval temples and Kankwari Fort punctuating the landscape.

Day 1–4

Aman-Tokyo-1.jpg
Aman-Tokyo-1.jpg

Tokyo Aman Tokyo

Your journey commences with a seamless arrival and a private transfer to Aman Tokyo. After settling in, join fellow travelers and your expedition leader for a warm welcome with cocktails and dinner.

The following day, Tokyo is yours to explore with the freedom of your private car, driver, and guide. Scheduled shared activities today include a sushi making experience and lunch and tutelage in the art of samurai sword combat, while the options for private experience are endless. Dive into Tokyo's culture with a visit to Jogai Market, a traditional Fukagawa Fudo fire ceremony. Alternatively, explore vibrant modern districts like Ginza and Akihabara or immerse yourself in history at Asakusa.

On day three, participate in a time-honored Japanese Tea Ceremony and gain insight into sumo culture with a special sumo experience with retired wrestlers (shared experiences). With your private car, driver, and guide, explore the Imperial Palace East Gardens, the stylish Omotesando Street, or the captivating Nezu Museum. Relax at animal cafés, take in the spectacular digital artwork at TeamLab’s Planets Exhibition, or catch a baseball game. Wrap up your Tokyo adventure with iconic moments like Shibuya Crossing.

Day 4–7

Amanoi-4.jpg
Amanoi-5.jpg

Ninh Thuan Amanoi

Bid farewell to Aman Tokyo, as our private jet transfers you to southern Vietnam. Enjoy lunch onboard, and arrive at the striking cliffside Amanoi in time to enjoy a leisurely afternoon and complimentary spa treatment.

The following days offer a mix of leisure and shared adventures. You can spend your mornings leisurely enjoying resort activities including wellness and water sports. Alternatively, explore the local villages with an off-road cycling excursion or embark on a hike to Temple Cove at Ong Thinh Beach, offering breathtaking views of Amanoi. Shared experiences include a cultural lunch excursion to a local fishing village, exploring beautiful Vinh Hy Bay by boat, and hiking local peaks and national parks. Other highlights include Vietnamese cookery classes for culinary enthusiasts, an invigorating hike to Goga Peak for sublime panoramic views, and an immersive cultural experience with the local Cham people. Indulge in a Cham feast and partake in a unique blessing ceremony in typical Cham style, led by a master.

Day 7–10

Lijiang-China-1.jpg
Amandayan-2.jpg

Lijiang Amandayan

Arrive in Lijiang (2,400m) and settle into Amandayan, set above the tiled roofs and canals of the UNESCO-listed Old Town. The property’s courtyards and tea house look across Lion Hill to the snow line of Yulong (Jade Dragon) Snow Mountain — a quiet base for acclimatising and exploring on foot.

Two days here balance unhurried discovery with one big landscape day. With your private car, driver, and guide, explore Old Town’s alleyways and willow-lined waterways, step into the restored Mu Residence, and — if you wish — see Impression Lijiang, Zhang Yimou’s open-air performance set beneath the mountains. Other options include the Golden Pagoda and local craft streets.

A full-day excursion reaches Tiger Leaping Gorge, a stunning river canyon where the Jinsha (upper Yangtze) runs between Haba and Jade Dragon ranges. Walk a well-marked section of the upper trail (moderate; 4–5 hours if taken in full) or keep it shorter along viewpoints; on the return, pause at Shigu to see the First Bend of the Yangtze. Back at the resort, the regather for cocktails to toast a day well spent while overlooking Old Town with live guzheng, followed by a seasonal Naxi dinner.

Day 10–13

Bhutan-2.jpg
Bhutan-1.jpg

Paro Amankora

Fly into the Paro Valley and settle at Amankora Paro, a rammed-earth lodge set among blue pine and farmland, with views toward Jhomolhari. With your private car, driver, and guide, begin with Paro’s essentials: the fortress-monastery of Rinpung Dzong, the hilltop National Museum, and Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples. If you wish, meet a monastery representative at the lodge for an astrology reading — a window into how many Bhutanese plan life’s milestones.

A full day expands to Thimphu. Options include the National Library’s rare scriptures, the National Textile Museum, the Memorial Chorten, the Motithang Takin Preserve, a handmade paper workshop, and even creating your own Bhutan postage stamp. Alternatively, choose a hike: the cliff-hugging monk village of Dodedrak or the forested trail to Cheri Monastery.

One morning is reserved for the ascent to the magnificent Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest), Bhutan’s emblematic cliffside monastery. The hike is steady and rewarding; those who prefer can pause at the halfway tea pavilion. Afterward, sit down to a traditional farmhouse lunch. Later options range from the high views of Chele La Pass to a visit to the Wangsel Institute for the Deaf, where support from this journey is directed.

Shared moments anchor the stay: a long-life blessing with a Rinpoche at the lodge, and an evening tented dinner in the forest with traditional musicians and dancers and local cuisine. Evenings otherwise are quiet — fires lit, skies clear — before the onward flight to Jaipur.

Day 13–16

Amanbagh-3.jpg
Amanbagh-2.jpg

Alwar Amanbagh

Transfer to India by private jet, where we have arranged a special touchdown in Agra, where you may explore the iconic Taj Mahal with your private car, driver and guide. A private transfer will take you to Amanbagh, a palatial and tranquil base from which to explore Rajasthan’s rich heritage.

Suggested experiences include a jeep ride through the archaeologically-rich ancient ruined city of Bhangarh, and the Cowdust Tour — hop in an open Jeep to explore fascinating rural villages surrounding Amanbagh. History enthusiasts may also be interested in seeing the Neelkanth Temples, and remote Ajabgarh Fort. Back at Amanbagh, you are invited to a fire meditation ceremony. This meditation is based on the concept that fire is the purest of the five elements. Participants sit around a fire called a hawan, composed of natural herbs and fragrant wood from the Himalayas. The session includes chanting the Gayatri mantra, a powerful Hindu mantra intended to energize the body’s 24 chakras or centers of spiritual power.

Day 16–18

Samarkand,-Uzbekistan-2.jpg
Samarkand.jpg

Samarkand Samarkand Regency

Arrive in Samarkand and transfer to your hotel. With a private car, driver, and guide at your disposal, ease into the city this afternoon: wander Siyob Bazaar for warm obi-non bread and dried fruit; pause at a chaikhana for tea; and, if time allows, dip into the Jewish Quarter and a restored merchant house, or visit the traditional paper-making mill on the city’s edge.

The following day focuses on Samarkand’s great Silk Road monuments. Begin at the iconic Registan Square, framed by the Ulugh Beg, Sher-Dor, and Tilla-Kari madrassas — a study in tilework, Kufic script, and Timurid geometry. Continue to Gur-e-Amir, the resting place of Tamerlane; the vast Bibi-Khanym Mosque; and the hillside necropolis of Shakhi-Zinda, a procession of cobalt and turquoise mausoleums.

As evening falls, reconvene for cocktails and a private dinner staged inside a historic madrassa. Afterwards, take in a curated light-and-sound perspective on Registan — a chance to see the square cleared of daytime traffic and lit for its architectural lines. On departure morning, board the private jet for the onward sector to Athens; lunch is served in the air.

Day 18–21

Amanzoe-4.jpg
Amanzoe-3.jpg

Peloponnese Amanzoe

Fly by private jet to Athens, where a helicopter will collect you at the airport and transfer you to the magnificent Amanzoe. Unwind at Amanzoe for the remainder of the day, enjoying the facilities, spa treatments, and classically Mediterranean vibes.

The following day, embark on a shared boat excursion to Spetses Island, a small and charming Greek island, where you'll have lunch at a local taverna along the pebbled coast. Afterward, you're free to explore Spetses Town and its picturesque waterfront promenade. Don't forget to bring your swim gear and enjoy the beautiful beaches of Spetses Island.

Relaxation is on the agenda for the final day. Enjoy the Beach Club, nestled below Amanzoe on a sheltered bay, at your leisure. Complimentary transfers are provided to the Aegean, where you can partake in watersports. The serene beach club features four swimming pools, a casual eatery, and a two-room spa. Gather in the evening with your fellow travelers for farewell cocktails and dinner. Raise a toast to the wonderful journey you've experienced.

Enjoy breakfast at Amanzoe before a private transfer to Athens airport at your leisure.

I'd say it has met or exceeded all my expectations. Everything is as beautiful as I expected it would be, but there was a lot more maneuverability on the ground as far as spontaneity.

The highlight of the trip was not needing to plan anything. It feels so freeing to just be able to get on a flight, not have to do any work for the trip, and have a far beyond amazing experience that's not so touristy and more localized. Another thing I loved was that we had a driver and a tour guide everywhere we go.

This trip is very interesting because you're traveling with a group of people, but you're also traveling with yourself and your spouse or your significant other. So you have an ability to be together as a group and also to do things with your significant other. I thought that was a fantastic way to run this trip.
