See ItineraryRemote Lands, the world's foremost ultra-luxe Asia travel designer, this week announced the opening of a new operations and support office in the Indian capital of New Delhi.
The Delhi office will handle all Remote Lands' operations in India, as well as providing sales and marketing support for the company’s existing offices in New York and Bangkok, and will further cement the company’s already established reputation as an India luxury travel specialist, recognized in the past by Departures magazine who named Remote Lands as one of the world’s top ten India specialists.
Remote Lands’ India team will be managed by India travel veteran Rahul Sharma. Rahul began his travel industry career over 30 years ago with well-known trekking operator Tiger Tops; since then he has operated and led tours for the likes of Outward Bound, National Geographic, The Smithsonian, and the World Wildlife Fund.
Catherine Heald, Remote Lands’ co-founder & CEO, says: "India is such a massive, diverse destination that we have decided we need a permanent presence there. We’re finding that many of our clients have already done the traditional Indian destinations like Delhi, Agra & Rajasthan, and are now going back for repeat visits to discover destinations such as Cochin in South India, Nagaland and Sikkim in the Northeast, and Leh and Kashmir in the Northwest."
"Having an Indian base gives us much more control over our operations, as well as bringing us closer to our local suppliers and facilitating better quality control” says Jay Tindall, the company’s co-founder and COO. “It will also be a real boon for our sales and marketing teams in terms of discovering new products and destinations, and being able to put our agency clients in touch with experts on the ground in India."
