The Remote Lands team is made up of talented and passionate team members, both in the office and on the ground. Our full-time New York and Bangkok staff specialize in our signature, highly customized trip planning, while the execution is handled on-site by a dedicated network of professional guides, drivers and ground managers.
Each member of the Remote Lands staff brings with them their own history of travel and their own unique personal perspective on Asia. We have been backpackers and honored guests, visitors and locals, upstarts and trusted partners, outsiders and insiders—and from our individual journeys we bring our clients a combined wealth of personal, practical knowledge that no other source can equal.

Remote Lands is the result of co-founder and COO Jay Tindall’s 30+ year journey as an entrepreneur, explorer, and digital media innovator. Based in Bangkok, Jay oversees company-wide operations, customer experience, product, and digital strategy across Asia. A passionate traveler and accomplished photographer, he has explored over 70 countries and personally scouted Remote Lands’ most remote destinations. With deep regional knowledge and a cross-cultural mindset, Jay continues to drive innovation and excellence in ultra-luxury Asia travel.

', 'Operations Director', '\r\n\tSomjai (Sonny) Sermsin joined Remote Lands as Operations Director in May 2017 to support the operations team in day-to-day matters, as well as help with quotations and reservations and contact partners and suppliers. Before joining Remote Lands, Sonny worked for leading inbound tour operators at Destination Asia Thailand and others in the industry for over 15 years. The daughter of a fisherman based around the Andaman Sea, Sonny was born in Koh Lanta in southern Thailand, Krabi Province; Sonny graduated from Chiang Mai University, majoring in German with a minor in Tourism Industry Management. When traveling, Sonny enjoys meeting people of different countries and cultures, having traveled to China, Vietnam, and Myanmar among other places. Her most recent trip was with her mother to see Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, in Myanmar.\r\n'))

 as a Sales Coordinator, assisting sales teams in Bangkok, the US and Germany. In 2012, she joined SpiceRoads, a cycling tour company, where she worked for four years as an Adventure Travel Consultant. There she developed the sense of care, responsibility and dedication that she applies to each of her Remote Lands clients. Travel is Usa\u0026#39;s true passion, and her curiosity and sense of adventure have taken her to Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, India and Sri Lanka. Of all her many destinations, she points to India as her favorite, saying, \u0026#39;Everyone should visit this country at least once in their lifetime.\u0026#39;\r\n'))

He has traveled extensively through all of Japan\u2019s prefectures and if you guessed that it was mostly by train you would be correct. Though he is also well traveled in North America and his most memorable travel experience was driving nearly 5,000 miles from San Diego, California to Quebec, Canada during his college graduation trip. He also has plans to visit other countries in Asia. He loves sports and has completed a 100-kilometer marathon and has a goal to complete a 100-mile marathon. In his position with Remote Lands he ensures that clients receive top-notch service and experiences during their travels.'))

Cherry doesn\\\u0027t just work in travel, she lives for it - her motto is \u0022Your holiday is my job, my holiday is my other job\u0022 - and she is been travelling since the age of 18. Her favourite travel memory was her solo backpacking trip around nothern Vietnam. Cherry is also a keen photographer and has had her travel photographs featured on the august pages of the Bangkok Post.\u00a0\r\n'))

She also attends to general administration and human resource matters. Previously Mim worked as the Regional Financial Officer at Rhenus Southeast Asia. She has over ten years experience as an accountant managing the detailed finances of small and large companies, and she brings her specialty in international matters to her role at Remote Lands. Mim holds a degree in accounting and finance and used to work in Shanghai where she learnt conversational Chinese. Mim hails from Ko Samui in southern Thailand, and enjoys going back to her family home on the coconut tree-covered island that sits on its own secluded beach.\r\n'))

She is in charge of reservations, bookings, assigning guides and ensuring Remote Lands\u2019 clients have travel experiences that are unique, memorable and go beyond their expectations. Lek, who graduated with BA in English, is an avid reader and loves to travel. Her motto is \u201cTraveling keeps me alive!\u201d One of her most memorable moments was the stunning view from the third highest road in the world in Kashmir. Lek has visited Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, India and Europe. After watching the movie Sleepless in Seattle, Lek would like to visit New York, and Machu Picchu and Petra are also on her list.\r\n'))

At Remote Lands Yam coordinates with on-the-ground partners based all over Asia to create tailor-made trips. Yam works to ensure Remote Lands clients have the very best accommodation, transport, local guides and experts to make their trip as comfortable, exciting and pleasurable as possible.
