A strong sense of national pride can be detected in everything from the country’s unique cuisine to its influential fashion, cosmetics, technology, and pop music. These often-contrasting elements make for a totally unique place to visit. Here's how to ride the Korean wave in its compelling capital over three days.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be showing some of our favorite things to do in Seoul on our Instagram page, which you can follow here.
DAY 1:

Start the day by visiting the Leeum Museum of Art (main image), where you can admire a diverse collection of contemporary artworks. Next, visit the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, renowned for its striking futuristic architecture and contemporary art exhibitions. Traditional Korean culture is to the fore at The Sool Gallery where rice wine tastings are a highlight. In the evening, the Myeongdong district buzzes with youthful verve. Here you can browse skin care salons and shop for skin care products from top-name cosmetics brands. End the day by visiting a traditional pojangmacha (street food stall) and a makgeolli bar, where you can enjoy shots of the milky traditional rice wine.

After learning the ropes, you'll have the chance to record a track in a professional studio. Next, make like chunky K-pop star, Psy, and indulge in a refreshing bingsu (shaved ice) dessert in the hip Ikseondong neighborhood. Wrap up a memorable trip in delicious style at MICHELIN-starred venues such as Gaon, La Yeon, Mosu, and Jungsik.
THE PERFECT COMBINATION
Busan Gamcheon Culture VillageSeoul is far from the only draw in Korea. Indeed, the country’s bijou size makes it easy to combine the capital with other top destinations such as Busan — known for its beaches, mountains, temples, and seafood — and the wellness island of Jeju off the south coast of the country. It’s a short hop from Korea to Southeast Asia, making countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and The Philippines an easy option for a twin-pronged holiday.
