Departures does Japan

When Richard Story, editor-in-chief of the prestigious international publication Departures, needed to organise travel for himself and his staff to Japan, he knew exactly who to contact according to his editorial -  Remote Lands. Working closely with our co-founder & CEO Catherine Heald and General Manager, Victoria Hilley, they were able to design interesting itineraries around Japan, and Remote ands was highlighted as one of the top six tour operators in Japan. Victoria also wrote an excellent article about Japanese cuisine, defining and describing everything from fugu to shabu-shabu to donburi.

Gemstones and Glaciers

Remote Lands’ made the grade in Town & Country’s A-List (UK edition) with our sparkling new itinerary, Gemstones & Glaciers: The Treasures of Yakutsk. A salubrious sojourn across Siberia, it includes Yakutsk, aka the City of Gold and Diamonds, before heading across the water to Lena Pillars National Park for shamanistic rituals and the sun festival, Ysyakh.

Jungle Book in India; Islands in Japan

In February, the New York Times wrote about Remote Lands as part of their travel news piece about the more distinguished destinations found in India, Africa and Japan. It centered on ‘A Japanese Adventure: Volcanos, Valleys, Shrines, & Spas’, our extra special and exclusive itinerary offering a round-trip to glamorous Osaka and bucolic Kyushu and Shikoku - taking in the still active volcano Mount Aso and Iya Valley, before heading on to Takachiho Gorge and Shrine, and back to Osaka.

Why You Should Go to Sri Lanka Now

Classic Sri Lanka and the Historic Sri Lanka Odyssey are just two of Remote Lands’ many itineraries for the “Teardrop of India”. In their February edition, Forbes Magazine’s seasoned travel journalist Laurie Werner cites us for “detailed, carefully planned, on-and off-the-beaten-track custom trips” when she describes why you should make your next destination holiday all about Sri Lanka. She gives special attention to Remote Lands country manager, Selvaraj Kanagaratnam, for his specialist eye and in-depth local knowledge.

The China Silk Road by Private Jet itinerary is where the usual aggravations of international travel - queuing, transfers and cancellation - are left behind, so you can concentrate on a fortnight travelling on the Silk Road, the expansive ancient trade route across China.
