Paro Amankora Paro

Fly from Bangkok to Bhutan’s only international airport in Paro, where your private guide will escort you to Amankora Paro, a tranquil retreat set against forested hills. That afternoon, explore Paro’s rich history with your private car, driver, and guide. Visit Paro Dzong, an impressive fortress that houses monks and government officials, and stop at the National Museum of Bhutan, home to an extensive collection of cultural and religious artifacts. If you wish, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples. Return to Amankora for a private astrology reading by a monastery representative, a rare opportunity to gain insight into Bhutanese spiritual traditions.

Paro Amankora Paro

Travel to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, for a full day of exploration. Discover Bhutan’s cultural heritage at the National Library, which holds sacred Buddhist scriptures, and the National Textile Museum, where intricate handwoven fabrics tell the story of the Kingdom’s traditions. Stop at Thimphu Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s monarchy, and visit the Motithang Takin Preserve, where Bhutan’s national animal, the takin, roams. Optionally, delve into Bhutan’s artisanal crafts at a traditional handmade paper factory or create your own Bhutanese postage stamp as a keepsake.

Alternative for hiking enthusiasts: Embark on a trek to Dodedrak Monastery, a hidden monk village with 900-year-old murals and breathtaking valley views, or hike to the secluded Cheri Monastery, Bhutan’s first monastic retreat.

Paro Amankora Paro

Rise early for a hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Goemba), one of Bhutan’s most revered sites, perched dramatically on a cliffside 10,240 feet above the valley floor. Trek through pine forests to reach the monastery, pausing at a scenic viewpoint for tea and contemplation. After visiting the monastery, enjoy a traditional Bhutanese lunch at a local farmhouse, offering an authentic taste of rural life. Spend the afternoon at leisure or continue exploring Paro with your private guide—options include a scenic drive to Chele La Pass for sweeping Himalayan views or a visit to the Wangsel Institute for the Deaf, where you can interact with students and learn about Bhutan’s commitment to inclusive education.

That evening, gather for a private tented dinner in the forest, featuring traditional Bhutanese performances and a curated seasonal menu, to toast the conclusion of your Bhutanese journey.

The following day, enjoy a final breakfast at Amankora, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight.
