Belmond La Residence Phou Vao

Why We Love This Hotel :

Location: La Residence is located only a few kilometers east of Luang Prabang airport and only 2km away from the world famous historic town of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

History: Laos only reopened the country doors to tourism in 1989, after the fall of the USSR. In 1995, UNESCO named Luang Prabang a World Heritage Site, which dramatically helped raise the country’s international profile and helped to preserve this historic town.

Service: What guests enjoy most about this hotel is its tranquil atmosphere, and its keen attention to detail, with services like a romantic private dinner for two arrangements being easily arranged.

The facilities on offer at La Residence are sure to please even the most expectant of guests. The Mekong Spa will leave guests feeling rejuvenated in both mind and body, while the fresh water swimming pool is the ideal place to cool down with a cocktail after exploring the lush mangrove surroundings of the hotel. Guests can also catch up on some work in the hotel’s cutting-edge business center.

The hotel’s boutique sells a vast array of locally-sourced handicrafts, jewelry, textiles, and other such treasures that guests may purchase as presents or to bring home as a treat for themselves.

Business Center

The hotel’s business center has a meeting room that can accommodate up to 50 people, while also providing WiFi access, as well as meeting equipment like a multimedia projector.

Mekong Spa

Guests can enjoy a day of complete pampering at the hotel’s Mekong Spa, the city’s first luxury spa, offering a wide range of treatments using the highest quality ingredients. The treatments have been custom-created based on traditional Laotian herbal remedies, combined with modern techniques.

One of the hotel’s most alluring features is its 42-foot freshwater pool, dramatically perched on the edge of a cliff. Stunning panoramas can be seen of Luang Prabang’s magnificent mountainous terrain and lush green valley.

Guests with an affinity for fine food will enjoy some of the finest in Lao cuisine at the hotel’s famous Phou Savanh restaurant, with its French-Lao fusion menu. The Doc Champa Bar is a comfortable and relaxed spot to grab pre- or post-dinner cocktails. For guests who prefer intimate meals, the 500 candle dinner is sure to impress.

500 Candle Dinner

Private dining arrangements can be made for two people in the resort’s UNESCO heritage garden amidst live Lao music. Couples can enjoy releasing floating lanterns into the sky - a romantic, spiritual, and beautiful act.

Doc Champa Bar

The hotel’s Doc Champa bar is a relaxed, open-air lounge that provides picturesque surroundings and a fabulous array of drinks to enjoy amongst good company.

Phou Savanh

One of Luang Prabang’s best restaurants, Phou Savanh serves up French cuisine with twists of traditional Laotian flavors. Guests may choose from the sophisticated comfort of the restaurant’s indoor section, or they may dine al fresco amidst views of the majestic Mount Phousi and the hotel’s lush gardens.
