Gora Kadan

Why We Love This Hotel :

History: This property is styled after a traditional Japanese ryokan, offering a glimpse into the heritage of Japanese hospitality. This particular ryokan was once the summer residence of the Imperial family.

Location: Located just outside Tokyo in Hakone, Gora Kadan is positioned amid hot springs and unspoiled forest, yet with easy access to the city.

Service: Guests can enjoy Japanese hospitality in a traditional setting, with English-speaking staff on hand to assist 24 hours a day.

As a traditional ryokan, Gora Kadan offers guests the use of public and private baths, pools and hot springs (onsen). There is also a warming bedrock bath and an onsite spa that offers massage and beauty treatments.

Gora Onsen

This outdoor hot spring bath provides deep relaxation and wellbeing for the skin. Located in the gardens, the onsen can be booked privately and includes use of a steam room.

Gora Spa

A number of traditional treatment rooms are onsite, providing calming views of the gardens and neighboring forest. Treatments include massage, facials, anti-aging skincare and onsen programs.

There are both indoor and outdoor pools available. The outdoor pool enjoys a garden setting, while the indoor pool is convenient for winter swimming.

Dining at Gora Kadan is traditional Kaiseki style. Kaiseki meals are of the set type, served as several small courses on a single tray, each meticulously presented and themed according to seasonal produce. Guests can also order the chef’s specials or a bento box.

Kaiseki Flower Bed

Guests who would like to dine privately can book the Kaiseki Flower Bed - an intimate dining nook with garden views. Featuring traditional floor seating, guests who dine here can enjoy true Japanese Kaiseki service. Guests also have the option of booking a session of bedrock stone therapy or the public hot spring bath before or after their meal to aid digestion.

Kaninomiya Restaurant

This historic restaurant occupies an 80 year-old Tudor mansion that was once the summer residence of Prince Kaninomiya. It has been a Kaiseki restaurant since 1989, offering traditional meals to guests of Gora Kadan and local diners in an ambient and luxurious setting.
