COMO Uma Bhutan Paro is a 29-room hotel set in Paro Valley with breath-taking views of the Himalayas. The Bukhari restaurant, set amid pine trees, uses mostly organic food from the surrounding area for Bhutanese delicacies such as pakshee paa, a sliced pork dish with chilies and radishes; ema datsee, a chili and cheese dish, or hewa datsee, a combination of potatoes, cheese and chilies. Uma by COMO, Paro is home to the COMO Shambhala Retreat, a holistic health spa with an open-air yoga pavilion overlooking the Paro Valley. Additional facilities include a business center, fitness center and swimming pool. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the airport in Paro.

Uma Paro has a choice between Deluxe Double Rooms, larger Superior Doubles and a two bedroomed villa. All accommodation looks out towards forest covered mountains and valleys. The structures are made with local materials of handcrafted stone, wood and tiles and are hand painted inside with traditional Bhutanese motifs.

The nine large Superior Double rooms measure 344 square foot. The room’s sizeable windows look out towards the surrounding forest covered mountains and valley. The rooms are built using local materials of handcrafted stone, wood and tiles. The room interiors are hand painted with traditional Bhutanese motifs by local artists. Inside the rooms are appointed with authentic Bhutanese wooden furniture, Indian cotton bed sheets hand stitched with Buddhist patterns and Nepalese rugs. The rooms have large sleeping and living quarters, generous en-suite bathrooms with a freestanding bathtubs and separate showers. Six of the rooms have private balconies over looking the valley.

There are nine large Deluxe Double Rooms measuring 269 square feet. The room’s large windows look out towards the surrounding forest covered mountains and valley. The rooms are built using local materials of handcrafted stone, wood and tiles and are hand painted inside with traditional Bhutanese motifs. The rooms are appointed with authentic Bhutanese wooden furniture, Indian cotton bed sheets with hand stitched with Buddhist patterns and Nepalese rugs. The rooms have large sleeping and living quarters, generous en-suite bathrooms with a freestanding bathtubs and separate shower.

COMO Villa

COMO Villa

The luxury COMO Villa has two-bedrooms, a large living area with French glass doors opening on to a private balcony and panoramic views of the Paro Valley. From the villa’s sizeable windows guests may look out towards the surrounding forest covered mountains and valley. The villa is built using local materials of handcrafted stone, wood and tile and hand painted inside with traditional Bhutanese motifs. Inside the rooms are appointed with Bhutanese wooden furniture, Bhutanese antiques and artifacts, Indian cotton bed sheets hand stitched with patterns and Buddhist motifs and Nepalese rugs. The villas exterior allows room for guests to relax in an alfresco hot stone bathtub or in an open-air courtyard with fire pit for warming up on cool Himalayan nights. The villa comes with its own spa room for private treatments. There is also a full kitchen and dining area.

The resort has a host of recreational facilities including a swimming pool, fitness center and yoga room, steam room and a spa.
