History: The solid teak villas that make up Khum Sak Tong recall a time that has, in other areas, long since slipped away in Thailand.
Location: Set amid rolling rice fields in Thailand’s beautiful north, the estate is not far from the ancient city of Chiang Rai.
Service:The full team of staff includes a chef, housekeepers, spa therapists and gardeners, and they are on hand day and night.
Surrounded by 14 acres of working rice fields, this beautiful, rambling estate is set in 10 acres of manicured, lush gardens. A perfect getaway for families, groups or couples, Khum Sak Tong sleeps up to ten in total but is spread over four villas, allowing for communal activities or privacy as guests please. Each villa is built from solid, golden teak and furnished with contemporary art and local aesthetics. The grand Main Villa, which houses the master suite, is known as the Downton Abbey of Asia; it’s here that guests can dine together on freshly prepared Thai cuisine made with ingredients from the organic garden, and enjoy a traditional Thai dance performance. On site are a private pool, a spa and yoga pavilions, while the surrounding areas await intrepid explorers, with adventures to Chiang Rai and around the rest of the Golden Triangle ready to be had.

With Remote Lands you'll travel with people who have made Asia the solitary focus of their own lifelong adventure. As our guest, in the continent that our north American founders Catherine and Jay have adored and explored for decades, you'll discover Asia on a journey that is completely, authentically your own, adapted from our own remarkable experiences and adventures over the years.
The separate teak villas sleep up to 10 adults in total and the sleeping arrangement options allow for families or groups to configure themselves flexibly, enjoying comfort, convenience and privacy.
In the Main Villa, the Master Suite is the grandest and most elegant, combining traditional teak and contemporary art. Guests will enjoy the escape from the bustle of the world and yet there’s no compromise on comfort, with all mod cons fitted as standard.
Perfect for families, River House 3 sleeps up to four across two bedrooms and features a large bathroom and separate living space. There is also a large deck for relaxing al fresco, enjoying a meal together and spotting the wildlife.
Villas 1 and 2 offer complete privacy for couples. Each of these self-contained solid teak bedrooms sits beside the calm waters of the river and features a private balcony from which guests can enjoy the scenery.
Well equipped for guests who want to relax or enjoy some invigorating or edifying activities, Khum Sak Tong has everyone covered. From the large swimming pool and private spas to yoga, meditation and excursions, guests can do anything here, or nothing at all.
Though it’s a relaxing escape, Khum Sak Tong also offers a range of excursions and activities for guests with a taste for exploring. Visits can be arranged to Chiang Rai to explore its night bazaar, or up into the hills that are home to ethnic groups who maintain age-old practises.
Set amid lush gardens, the 30-meter private pool at Khum Sak Tong is heated via solar power and contains no chlorine or chemicals. It’s the perfect place for an invigorating swim to start the day.
Guests at Khum Sak Tong have use of two private spas where a range of therapies and treatments are available, from traditional Thai massage to herbal steams.
Stretch your body and your mind with a relaxing Hatha yoga class in the 3 private yoga / mediation salas on the property. Each class is tailored to your ability and encompasses breathing exercises, gentle stretching techniques, and bending postures that are designed to enhance your inner awareness
The cuisine at Khum Sak Tong is quintessentially Thai: freshly prepared by the on-site executive Thai chef, each dish contains many ingredients picked from the estate’s organic garden, allowing guests to taste the authenticity in every bite.
There are a range of dining options on the estate. Guests at Khum Sak Tong can opt to enjoy a little intimacy at the private dining villa, on a private balcony or over the koi pond, or come together for a meal in the Main Villa where up to 10 diners can be treated to a traditional Thai dance and music performance.
