The Festive Season is only seven weeks away but there is still availability at some fabulous hotels and resorts from late December to early January.
This is the perfect time to visit South East Asia and the South Coast of Sri Lanka, so we contacted our favourite hotels to see where there were still opportunities to guarantee some holiday sun.

Galle is centered around a historic 17th century Dutch fort, crammed with boutique shops and cafes, and situated on an outcrop surrounded on three sides by the Indian Ocean. In the centre lies the sumptuous Amangalla resort, itself a UNESCO world heritage site. From here you can walk the Ramparts of Galle, visit the Yatangala and Rhumasala Temples, discover the diverse wildlife of the Hiyare Rainforest, or even head out to sea for some serious game fishing and whale watching. Amangalla currently has vacancies for Christmas and New Year across all room categories.
Also on the Southern coast of Sri Lanka, halfway between Galle and Tangalle, is the gorgeous Ani Villas, comprised of two massive villas (6 bedrooms and 8 bedrooms), each with a large private pool, and a tennis court with in-house tennis pro. The eight bedroom villa is available over the festive period and is perfect for larger families looking for a luxurious holiday. Ani Villas is known for its traditional Sri Lankan hospitality and delicious cuisine.
The spectacular Amanwella is situated on a tranquil crescent beach in the middle of a coconut grove in Tangalle, and has private pool suites available for the Christmas period. From here you can visit the Mulgirigala Monestary where a “rosetta stone” was found enabling the translation of Sri Lanka’s oldest writings, the Wewurukannala Buddhist temple whose 160 foot high seated Buddha statue dates back to the late 18th century, and Kudawella Blowhole where pressure from the crashing surf forces water to shoot spectacularly out of a crevice in a seaside cliff.
Bali is an excellent choice for the holiday season and some of the very best hotels still have availability including three stunning Amans.
Amandari has beautiful views over Ayung River Gorge and glorious terraced rice fields in Ubud, the cultural capital of Bali. Amankila, on a hillside on the east side of the island with black volcanic sand beaches, has amazing private pool villas overlooking the ocean. Finally, Amanusa in southern Bali is an ideal resort for golfers. All three would provide a memorable Christmas and New Year.
Bali has so much to offer - culture, adventure, nightlife, shopping, picturesque scenery, fine restaurants and world-class hotels. Take a spectacular helicopter flight to see the island from the air, or experience the rush of white-water rafting, or hike through the rice terraces to hidden temples and remote villages and have a private blessing from a priest. And of course, nothing can beat the experience of a traditional Balinese massage.
Staying with the Aman group, they also have availability at Amanjiwo, which is located in central Java and boasts dramatic surroundings, notably four volcanoes which sit permanently on the horizon. From here you can explore Yogyakarta, the cultural center of Java, and the important Prambanan complex of UNESCO World Heritage site temples.
Two fantastic properties in Cambodia which still have availability for this festive season. Anantara Angkor Resort is in Siem Riep, home of the incredible Angkor Wat and other Khmer temples which every person must see in their lifetime.
Song Saa is an exclusive resort on a private island off the coast of southern Cambodia in Sihanoukville, and is one of the few properties with overwater villas and private pools.
One of the most beautiful ways to see Vietnam, and Cambodia, is to cruise the Mekong River. The Aqua Mekong Cruise Ship sails from Saigon to Siem Riep, taking in the stunning scenery of South East Asia. There are a number of 3 to 7 night cruises still available throughout December, including a three night cruise which departs on the 20th December.
The Intercontinental Danang Sun was recently voted one of Asia's best resorts by Conde Nast Traveler readers. It's situated just outside Danang in Central Vietnam near the historic towns of Hue and Hoi An on its own private white sandy beach. The hotel is perfect for families has a dedicated center for kids of all ages.
Amanoi is located in the stunning conservation area of Vinh Hy Bay in Ninh Thuan Province, which boasts some of Vietnam’s most beautiful coastline, with crystal blue waters and white sand beaches. Amanoi has stunning pool pavilions available throughout the holiday period, and we can think of nowhere more beautiful or relaxing to spend the holidays.
The holiday season is the perfect time to visit Thailand and some outstanding hotels and villas still have availability for the holidays.
In Chiang Rai, the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort offers the perfect location for a family holiday. Famed for its elephant experiences, you can also take Thai cooking lessons, visit the incredible Hall of Opium, zip line on the Flight of the Gibbon, and take day trips over the border to Laos and Myanmar.
Near Chiang Rai, Pa Sak Tong and Khum Sak Tong are stunning individual villas that offer the highest levels of personal service imaginable, with a team of personal staff on call 24/7. With three double bedrooms, Pa Sak Tong is set in lush green grounds ideal for a picnic.
