Recommended Festivals & Events For Qatar in March

Held annually in March, the Doha Cultural Festival is the biggest event of its kind in the Middle East, attracting hundreds of visitors each year. The festival programs celebrate the heritage and culture of Qatar, from musical performances and dancing to intimate poetry readings and theatre. Local artisans are invited to showcase their art work, handicrafts, and fashions. There are also dedicated children’s events and activities. 

Eid Al Fitr is one of the most important religious festivals in the Islamic calendar and is widely observed in Qatar. Marking the end of Ramadan, the whole country comes alive and locals head out to celebrate with friends and family. Firework displays and festivities are held at Katara Cultural Village, while lights, banners, displays, and musical performances occur in various locations including the seafront, malls, and major souks. Travelers should note that almost all businesses close during this time though the festive mood and the chance to see locals in their best traditional clothing make it a special time to visit. 

Katara Esplanade’s spacious beach with steady winds is where the Doha’s International Kite Festival takes place over several days each March. Over 100 participants from around the world compete for the honors in various categories, while spectators can enjoy the visual feast in the sky as well as a variety of family-friendly activities including kite-making workshops, face painting, and street painting.
