We had been to Siem Reap before ... but this trip was truly one-of-a-kind, an insiders look into the life and culture of the Cambodian people, truly a trip of a lifetime.

Why We Love This Hotel :

History: Amansara is situated on a property that once housed the personal guests of King Sihanouk, revered widely by his subjects as the father of the nation.

Service: Amansara, like all other Aman properties, provides top-notch service in an intimate, atmospheric setting.

Location: Amansara is located within close proximity to Angkor Wat, a short bike ride away.

Amansara’s facilities grew to include a spa and large lap pool upon its renovation in 2006, the spa’s rooms looking out to a peaceful reflection pond, and the lap pool discreetly hidden from view. Other facilities include a library that features not only books, but also audio CDs and board games, and a roof terrace.

Amansara has its very own library with a selection of media, among them books, magazines, and newspapers, all of whom are up to date.  In addition, the library possesses a range of CDs, games, and reference books on the Angkor temples and Khmer civilization.

Inspired by Cambodian massage and traditional medicine, Amansara's Spa features 4 treatment rooms, each with a private steam bath and shower, and a separate relaxation area.  The rooms face a courtyard garden, replete with a long reflecting pool. All the products used in the treatments here are made from natural ingredients.

Swimming Pool

Framed by foliage and a terraced, open-air seating area, Amansara's swimming pool is curved, and approximately fifty-five feet in length.  It is surrounded by sun loungers and tables, and in addition, there is another, smaller pool discreetly positioned behind the central courtyard.

There are three dining options at the Amansara. The main focal point of the resort is the Dining Room, which features an incredible seven-meter ceiling and shaded terrace. A traditional Khmer Village House provides an authentic and historical dining spot, and the roof terrace is an ideal spot to enjoy a sunset cocktail.

Dining Room

Amansara’s dining room, with its lofty structure and shaded terrace, sits at the center of the resort. The menu serves Khmer and Western dishes, created with both local and imported ingredients. There is also a well-stocked, walk-in wine and cheese cellar.

Khmer Village House

Guests may enjoy a special gourmet dinner prepared at Amansara’s Khmer Village House, which is located just 200 meters away from Srah Srang, an embankment built at the same time as Angkor, and over-looking a man-made lake that was once the royal leisure pool. Your dinner will be illuminated solely by candles and tikis as there is no electric or gas lighting at the Khmer Village House. There is also the opportunity to tour the property’s spice and herb garden as well.

Roof Terrace

Shaded and well-furnished with a number of loungers, sofas, and plush seats, the roof terrace is a prime space for drinks at sundown - a perfect, peaceful way to cap a long day.
