See ItineraryJuly through October and it is well into monsoon season in Bangladesh, where it gets cool and wet. Very wet. These months see about 80 percent of the nation's rainfall, causing intense flooding across the country. Most parts of the country receive at least 2,300 mm of rainfall per year. Due to its location just south of the foothills of the Himalayas, where monsoon winds turn west and northwest, the region of Sylhet in northeastern Bangladesh receives the greatest average precipitation. The western region of Rajshahi is a rare relatively dry area, which proves useful for visiting the numerous archeological sites here, particularly Puthia city and its notable Hindu temples and palaces built by zamindar aristocrats.
An Asia-focused magazine brought to you by Remote Lands - a platform for adventure, luxury, and authenticity from experts and explorers around the continent.
Bangladesh is not normally known for its wildlife, but hidden among the swamps and forests are animals hanging on to the disappearing ecology.
Aland with a fascinating and sometimes tragic history, Bangladesh is an undiscovered travel gem still well off the beaten tourist trail and yet home to so many cultural treasures just waiting to be uncovered.
Dhaka during monsoon season is not every tourist’s idea of fun. But good-humored locals, colorful street life, and tasty cuisine all contribute to unique joie de vivre.
Here is a small selection of the kind words our clients have said about us recently.
From the sincerity of our guide to the comfortable eloquence of our lodging and cultural forays into Khmer history, our trip unfolded perfectly.
This was our second trip with Remote Lands... On Java, our guide was excellent and we loved being the only people at Borobudur after the monument closed to the public.
You are invited to Remote Lands’ signature Aman Jet Expeditions, in partnership with our friends at Aman. These are small group journeys designed for people who usually travel independently.
