July to August sees the arrival of the summer monsoons when it becomes hot, humid and, often, wet across South Korea. By June highs reach around 26 °C (79 °F) with July experiencing the highest rainfall of the year, over 160 mm in Seoul . The summer is typhoon season, but fortunately most lose their strength by the time they make landfall on the peninsula. The island of Jeju, a short flight from Busan, is a much loved summer highlight where you can visit the surreal Manjanggul cave, or see hardy Haenyeo fisherwoman dive deep into the sea to catch shellfish, seaweed, and fish.
