Location: Perched on the pretty Musandam Peninsula, the northernmost point of Oman, this luxurious resort presents sumptuous sea views alongside a dramatic coastal cliff face that towers overhead.
History: This is the first Six Senses resort to open in Oman, a renowned luxury hotel brand that already has eight resorts to their name, spanning six countries and two continents, as well as 17 additional spas across the world.
Service: The Six Senses brand specializes in luxurious spas across the world, so it’s no surprise that the level of service here makes for an unforgettable experience. As well as that, staff throughout are attentive and friendly, and there is around-the-clock room service provided.
Enjoying a spectacularly isolated location on the northernmost tip of Oman, this award-winning resort combines a superb coastal position alongside an exciting mountain backdrop towards the south, truly delivering the best of both worlds. This means you can wake up and head out for a swim or sunbathe on the beach, then take full advantage of the wealth of activities available inland, such as hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing - or even take a microlight flight! The range of 82 villas and suites are just as impressive as the location, each providing a private plunge pool, terrace, dining area and outside shower. Villas here are arranged to mimic a traditional Omani village, and the chunky stone walls help to keep things cool, as well as air conditioning throughout. For more space for swimming, head to the resort’s freeform infinity edge pool which overlooks the ocean horizon and has ample sun loungers for a relaxing poolside with refreshment in-hand. For dining, you don’t have to venture too far either. Zighy Bay’s signature restaurant is perched atop the rocky hill overlooking the resort and serves traditional dishes with a modern, creative twist.

The range of 82 villas and suites provide a mix of traditional Omani design and features such as thick stone walls and artistic touches, and each one comes with its own private plunge pool, dining area, sandy garden and refreshing outdoor shower.
Built with thick stone to keep the interiors cool, these large 2,650-square-foot villas provide a long list of modern conveniences alongside traditional Omani touches – not forgetting private plunge pools and tranquil outside terraces.
These lavish 4,400-square-foot spaces take full advantage of the resort’s coastal location, with direct access to the soft, golden sands of the nearby beach. They come with their own private infinity edge pool, dining and living room areas and adjacent summer house.
Six Senses is known across the world for their first-class spas; opt for the Spa Pool Villa Beachfront to take advantage of the peaceful in-villa spas – perfect to enjoy the resort’s range of signature treatments. There’s also a private pool, garden and summerhouse totaling 2,650 square feet.
Six Senses specialize in spa treatments, so experiencing their range of signature treatments here is simply a must. The freeform infinity-edge pool is a great place to have a splash around too, all while enjoying the spectacular sea views from the water.
Six Senses provides a well-equipped, fully air-conditioned gym. For a more lively way to burn some calories, hit the tennis court and enjoy the cooling sea breezes as you play.
Six Senses Spa at Zighy Bay combines both modern and traditional treatments to provide the ultimate in pampering and relaxation. The resort has both in-house experts and visiting wellness consultants to ensure Six Sense’s signature treatments are kept to the highest quality.
Although each and every villa here comes with its own private plunge pool, the resort does have a much more spacious freeform pool, providing a fun and lively communal atmosphere with views from the impressive infinity edge stretching out towards the Gulf of Oman.
As well as trained experts providing signature spa treatments, guests can also indulge themselves in the resort’s on-site sauna or hammam, where steam is used to open and cleanse the pores for a rejuvenating experience.
There’s a whopping six different dining options to choose from at Zighy Bay, the most spectacular being the resort’s signature ‘Sense on the Edge’ restaurant, which enjoys a hilltop position overlooking the majestic Gulf of Oman.
Zighy Bay’s signature restaurant provides a fine-dining experience like no other; perched atop the rocky hill overlooking the resort and Gulf of Oman, Sense on the Edge has a choice of five, seven or nine-course menus showcasing the best in modern Omani and Middle Eastern cuisine.
This compact dining area opens every Thursday from 6:30pm, presenting some quaint Bedouin décor and furnishings with a menu to match, including local organic salads and roasted lamb prepared in the traditional underground oven.
Spice Market, one of the resort’s most popular dining venues, has a long menu encompassing flavors from across the Middle East. Breakfast is served here every day and the restaurant stays open late for a relaxed dinner experience.
For a lighter bite, head over to the casual Summer House, which serves up a range of appetizers, refreshments and cooling homemade ice creams and sorbets – perfect to cool off on a hot summer’s day.
Group sizes from two to eight persons can head down to the resort’s very own wine cellar for tasting sessions. Wines here are both New and Old World imports, and guests can consult the in-house sommelier for recommendations on the best pairings for their dinner.
The resort’s namesake bar is the place to come for a range of mocktails and cocktails which can be ordered throughout the day. Views are great too, stretching across the rugged mountains, creating the perfect spot for a soothing sundowner in the evening.
