TAILORED TRAVEL IDEAS IN ASIA FOR 2022
It may seem hard to fathom, but a quarter of 2022 has already passed. Now is the perfect time to consider your travel options for the remainder of the year. The great thing about Asia's different latitudes and climates is that there are always excellent options, no matter when you decide to travel. We have selected some of our favorite season-specific suggestions to inspire new adventures for a memorable 2022.

Kazbegi, GeorgiaTropical Flavors
Indonesia’s location along the equator is best sampled during the summer months, when the weather is perfect for island-hopping, snorkeling and beach relaxation. Bali, the “Island of the Gods”, is a perennial favorite for its rich Hindu/animist culture. Also perfect in the summer is Koh Samui, Thailand’s second-biggest island known for its palm tree edged beaches and crystal clear water.
Mountain Exploration
Central Asia and the Caucasus are fantastic choices for an active summer sojourn. Dominated by the rugged ranges of the Fann and Pamir Mountains, Tajikistan is the highest country in the region with extraordinary trekking and stunning scenery. Further west, Georgia and Armenia also offer trails through spectacular landscapes, as well as adrenalized activities such as paragliding and hot air ballooning.
Mongolian Magic
One of the world’s great festivals, Naadam is a vivid expression of the country’s nomadic culture. The festival in Ulaanbaatar will be celebrated this July 11-15, and several smaller Naadams are also held throughout the country during this period. The festivals’ “three games of men” are believed to have existed for centuries and incorporate horse racing, archery, and Mongolian wrestling in an exciting display of local culture.
FALL & FESTIVE
Mount Hagen Cultural ShowFestival Fun
Fall is also an optimal time to experience spectacular cultural festivals. In Papua New Guinea, the Mount Hagen Show on September 4 and 5 brings together tribes from around the nation—donning luminous body paint and traditional masks to celebrate their distinctive culture. Unforgettable too is the annual Goroka Show held this September 17-21 during the country’s national independence celebrations.
Nature’s Bounty
To experience classic fall beauty, consider South Korea or the Caucasus. Both locations offer gorgeous fall foliage, hiking, and activities such as grape-stomping in Georgia at the country’s top wineries. Health, wellness, and beauty are national obsessions in Korea, and Koreans believe that hiking is one of the keys to longevity. Fantastic walking trails can be found in destinations like Bukhansan National Park, Geumjeongsan, and Jirasan, Korea’s tallest mountain.
Autumnal Adventures with Aman
There is space remaining for one couple to join Aman’s Mindful and Cultural Journey this fall—a spiritual expedition through Asia by private jet, led by zen master Shantum Seth. From September 21-October 7, this journey will explore Nepal, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka, with an exclusive helicopter excursion to Mount Everest Base Camp and champagne breakfast. From October 12-November 2, The Grandest Tour will journey to nine spectacular Amans from Tokyo to Venice. This ultimate expedition across two continents has a few seats available for travelers wanting the ne plus ultra luxury experience.
Winter Wonders
There are a myriad of locations where you can feel the sun on your shoulders when it is dark and cold at home. In the Middle East, winter is the optimal time to visit countries such as the UAE, Qatar and Oman when temperatures are at their most pleasant. Winter is also a great time to enjoy the ocean life from the privacy of your overwater villa in The Maldives at hotels like One & Only Reethi Rah and JOALI.
YEAR-ROUND
Ladakh, IndiaYear Round Destinations
Many countries in Asia offer various options all year round. In India, summer is the best time to sample the rugged splendor of Ladakh and Kashmir in the country’s far north. Conversely, you’ll get the most out of destinations such as Kerala, Karnataka, Darjeeling and Rajasthan in the fall, winter or spring. Likewise, Vietnam’s vibrant south is best experienced in winter, and its northern fringes are better explored during spring and fall. Thailand, too, can be experienced in all seasons. Winter is the best time to visit Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and the country’s mountainous north. Summer, meanwhile, is perfect for a beach break in the Gulf islands, such as the tropical island of Koh Samui.
