November to February is undoubtedly the best time to visit Thailand, hot and mainly dry, though northern areas can become cool in the evening with lows of around 15 ºC (59 ºF). The islands in the Andamans including Phuket are at their best at this time. Each of the islands have a different character, and you can chose depending on your wish, whether it is diving, sunbathing, family-fun or nightlife, the Thai islands offer something for everyone. January is dry and one of the best moths to visit the stunning Khao Sok National Park to explore the rainforest and see with the resident Asian elephants. Chiang Mai and the charming town of Pai, in Thailand's north, have a cooler, some say more pleasant, climate than Bangkok and the south. Go from December to February for lovely sunny days of around 29ºC (84 ºF) and cooler evenings when the temperature dips to 13ºC (55ºF) - and even lower in the highlands, so a few warm clothes are recommended if you're trekking.
