June to August and the first of the Cambodian monsoons arrive, with precipitation hitting almost 200 mm per day in July. The rains see the temperature drop a few degrees from the April highs, but still average around 28 °C. Bone-dry fields transform to lush green paddies, and clear blue skies can quickly turn a deep, dramatic gray. Lightweight rainproof clothing is essential for this time of year when the inevitable and frequent downpours arrive.
