DETAILED DECRIPTION

Get ready for eight days of action as you head for At-Bashy Valley, home to some of the coldest winters in Kyrgyzstan. This gorgeous, verdant mountain region is used as pastureland in summer, and from December to March lures adrenaline-seekers to its snowy slopes. Take the scenic journey through Naryn and up to Acha-Kayindy Gorge, where the altitude varies from 7,000 to 15,000 feet above sea level. Here, you will make your camp in the traditional yurts of the Kyrgyz nomads who call this area home. Enjoy five days amid beautiful natural scenery and on the untouched steep slopes before heading back to civilization. Take the opportunity to explore the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek before heading onwards.

DAY-TO-DAY

DAY 1: Naryn

Arrive in Bishkek to meet your guide who will whisk your overland by car to Naryn. On your five-hour drive, take the chance to stop and take pictures of the scenery. Check in at the Khan Tengri Hotel and enjoy some traditional Kyrgyz food for dinner.

DAY 2: At-Bashy Valley

After breakfast you will set off for At-Bashy Valley. Your destination is Acha-Kaindy Gorge; familiarize yourself with the stunning scenery and prepare for your snowy adventure. Bed down in your cozy accommodation for the next few days - a traditional Kyrgyz yurt.

DAY 3: At-Bashy Valley

Rise early to hit the slopes around the valley and get acclimatized to your new playground of piste. Enjoy traditional Kyrgyz food, laid on three times a day, and after all the action, sleep comfortably beneath the stars.

DAY 4: At-Bashy Valley

Continue your downhill adventure and make the most of the varied runs. If you are seeking a challenge, make for one of the many steep black runs of untouched powder.

DAY 5: At-Bashy Valley

Today is your final full day skiing the backcountry of Kyrgyzstan in gorgeous At-Bashy Valley, so make it count. In the evening, enjoy a meal at your camp before a final night in your traditional yurt.

DAY 6: Naryn

Spend the best part of the day skiing your final runs in At-Bashy before it is time to gather your belongings and head back to Naryn. This evening, check back into the hotel for dinner and a comfortable night’s sleep.

DAY 7: Bishkek

After breakfast, you will begin the journey back to Bishkek, the final stop on this Kyrgyz journey. Make stops on the way to take pictures of the gorgeous scenery and, on arrival, check in at your comfortable hotel.

DAY 8: Departure

Spend your remaining hours in Kyrgyzstan exploring its beautiful capital. Take a stroll around the city to see Victory Square, State Circus, Opera House, National History Museum, Philharmonic House and City Hall. When the time comes, you will be transferred to the airport, ready for your onward flight.

Karakol is unlike any other part of Kyrgyzstan. Its scenery, its diversity of people, its attractions, and even its cuisine are all unique and have a wonderfully authentic feel. And after my kitschy Issyk Kul lake experience, unique and authentic were two traits I was craving.
