Capella Hotels and Resorts has opened its first property in Macau, adding a distinctive new address to the high-end hotel landscape in the destination.
The new Capella at Galaxy Macau is located within the integrated resort in Cotai and sits within easy reach of Macau’s UNESCO-listed historic centre. The city’s mix of pastel-hued colonial buildings, stone-paved lanes, and centuries-old temples provides a vivid counterpoint to its glittering new developments. Guests can explore landmarks such as the Ruins of St Paul’s, A-Ma Temple, and Senado Square before returning to a setting that blends contemporary design with local influences.
Currently in a soft-opening phase, the hotel is welcoming stays and previewing its dining concepts by invitation to a select group of guests. The launch reflects Macau’s ongoing shift towards broadening its appeal beyond gaming, highlighting its culture, gastronomy, and range of upscale accommodations.
Designed by Paris-based studio Moinard Bétaille, Capella at Galaxy Macau takes inspiration from the city’s green hillsides and surrounding waters. Across 17 floors, interiors are shaped by natural tones, layered textures, and planted spaces that echo Macau’s subtropical landscape. In the lobby, a large-scale digital art wall reinterprets these themes in a contemporary format, creating a sense of place from the moment guests arrive.
The property offers 95 suites and Capella Penthouses, many with balconies, private infinity-edge pools, outdoor lounges, winter gardens, butler pantries, and dedicated screening rooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows maximise daylight and views, while layouts are designed for both privacy and sociability.
