Park Hyatt has arrived in Malaysia with the opening of Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, a high-rise retreat occupying the top floors of Merdeka 118 — the tallest skyscraper in Asia Pacific and the second tallest in the world.
Spread across levels 75 to 114, the 252-room hotel delivers sweeping views over the Malaysian capital, including the PETRONAS Towers and the historic Stadium Merdeka below, where the country’s independence was declared in 1957.

Guestrooms and suites are designed as “private sanctuaries” with floor-to-ceiling windows, walk-in dressing rooms, and spacious living areas. Interiors by G.A Group draw on the vernacular architecture of Malay kampung houses, with natural timber accents, Peranakan-inspired textures, and perforated brass screens etched with batik patterns. A curated collection of works by Malaysian artists adds a distinctly local narrative.
“The Park Hyatt brand hits a milestone at 50 properties globally, adding its first hotel in Malaysia with the debut of Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur,” said David Udell, Group President, Asia Pacific, Hyatt. “It’s an important breakthrough for us within Southeast Asia and a striking addition to the Kuala Lumpur skyline.”
The property anchors the Merdeka 118 precinct, giving guests easy access to nearby landmarks such as Stadium Merdeka, Al-Sultan Abdullah Mosque, and the Merdeka Textile Museum.

YM Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad Raja Tun Uda, Group Chairman of PNB, called the project “a catalyst to uplift communities and enhance Kuala Lumpur’s long-term vibrancy… playing an important role in supporting the city’s cultural regeneration and heritage tourism.”
Dining highlights include Merdeka Grill, where premium cuts and sustainable seafood are prepared with a modern flourish; Park Lounge, which revives heritage Malaysian recipes alongside an elaborate afternoon tea by pastry chef Holger Deh; and Cacao Mixology & Chocolate, the city’s first chocolate-themed bar, pairing cacao-inspired cocktails with skyline views.
On the 99th floor, the wellness centre features a yoga studio, infinity pool, treatment suites, and circadian therapies designed to align guests’ body clocks. “From locally inspired art and design to purposeful wellness and elevated culinary concepts rooted in Malaysian culture, our guests will discover enriching experiences from this unique vantage point,” said Herman Kemp, General Manager, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
With its elevated location, cultural ties, and contemporary design, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur offers a new perspective on the city — quite literally — and adds another reason for luxury travellers to put Malaysia’s capital on their itineraries.
