Japan in November

September through November is autumn in Japan, and the weather is cool, with typhoon season reaches its peak in August and September. Typhoons usually hit the coasts of Okinawa, Kyushu and Shikoku and cause strong rain and wind in large parts of Japan for several days. Luckily, typhoons are often followed by perfectly clear weather. In Tokyo autumn starts with lows of 21°C (70°F) and highs of 28°C (82°F), and by the end temperatures are in the 10-17 °C (50°- 63°F) range. In Sapporo, autumn temperatures reach highs of 22°C (72°F), but by the end of the season they will fall between 2-8°C (36 – 46°F). Few places do autumn quite like Japan, famed for its breathtaking autumn colors when the leaves on the trees start to change. Maple and ginkgo trees are among the finest for viewing leaves of mustardy yellow ochre and vibrant red, painting entire hillsides. Falling temperatures start in Hokkaido during October, and the warm colors gently ease south through to central Japan. Diving season comes to an end in Okinawa, but nonetheless people flock here for the warm temperatures and calm beautiful beaches.
