September to November is the cool and dry autumn, and one of the best times to visit Nepal as the climate stabilizes and the monsoon rains have left the landscape vibrant green and the views spectacular. The stunning verdant landscapes following the rains are ideal for photographers looking for that perfect shot. Visibility is excellent, and so an ideal time to take on the highest mountain peaks on Earth. Autumn temperatures range between 15 and 24 °C(59-75 °F) in Kathmandu. Nepal's wildlife is worth exploring during the drier months. Chitwan and Bardia are two of the better protected national parks, and offer a fine chance to see rhinos, monkeys, rare birds and elephants. Nepal also celebrates the biggest Hindu festivals at this time, such as Dashain and Tihar, when the bright colors and the burning of incense form an assault on the sense.
October-November
This festival, also known as Deepwali, takes place over five days in Nepal’s Terai region. All of the country’s ethnic groups celebrate this festival, worshipping the gods, as well as animals like the crow, cow, and dog, celebrating with lights being lit inside and outside of homes, and auspicious local snacks.
Location Terai Region, Nepal
