Tibet in May

April to May brings springtime to Tibet when temperatures in the region begin to rise, melting the winter snows and opening up much of area for visiting again. Temperatures in Lhasa are now between 0 and 15 ºC (32-59ºF), and it is still largely dry at this time, so there will be almost constant blue skies, with Everest Base Camp offering clearer views than at any other time of the year. Traveling outside Lhasa brings spectacular wintery landscapes, with snowy mountains and frozen lakes. The weather is generally warm and sunny in May and temperatures at the lower altitudes can reach a balmy 20°C (just under 70°F). The spring is undoubtedly a fine time indeed to visit the wonder that is the ‘roof of the world.'
