New Year Celebrations in Magical Siberia

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Price is based on double or twin hotel room occupancy and includes accommodation, transfers, car/driver, English-speaking guide, activities and entrance fees, breakfasts and some casual lunches while touring.   Flights and optional special activities will be quoted separately.  Most personal expenses, including dinners, alcoholic beverages, spa treatments and gratuities can be paid on the spot while traveling.  Prices may vary depending on season, choice of accommodation and other factors.

DETAILED DECRIPTION

Surely the most magical time of year should be spent in a magical location. And from the city lights of Novosibirsk to the natural beauty of Lake Baikal and the gorgeous architecture of Irkutsk, there is nowhere quite so perfect as Siberia for a sparkling New Year’s celebration. Stay in luxury accommodation and enjoy a true Russian experience, from traditional folk performances to classic operas. Sample humble, honest peasant dishes and dine on the finest authentic cuisine, sipping vodka and champagne. Discover historic buildings and enjoy exhilarating, snowy sleigh rides through beautiful forests. Catch midnight fireworks from a city rooftop and party all night for a truly unforgettable start to a new year. 

DAY-TO-DAY

DAY 1: Novosibirsk

Arrive in the winter wonderland of Novosibirsk city; meet your driver at the airport to be whisked off to your hotel. At the exclusive DoubleTree by Hilton, enjoy a glass of champagne upon check-in and relax. After a traditional Russian lunch, visit the friendly inhabitants of the zoo before a tour of the city’s attractions. Explore the Folk Center before dinner and relax back at the hotel.

DAY 2: Novosibirsk

After breakfast, head out into the snowy countryside for a horse-drawn sleigh ride, surrounded by beautiful trees and make a stop for lunch. Visit the charming village of Kolyvan and its distinctive wooden houses and get in the festive spirit with a sing song and a stiff drink on the coach back to the hotel. Gather at 11pm in your glad rags to see in the New Year at nearby Nebo, a rooftop restaurant with an excellent view of the fireworks, and party until you drop.

DAY 3: Overnight train

Spend a leisurely morning with a well-deserved lie-in at the hotel. After lunch and check-out, transfer to Novosibirsk station to board the train. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as it glides past your comfortable cabin and relax.

DAY 4: Listvyanka

Arrive in the pretty city of Irkutsk and meet your waiting driver for the remainder of your journey. Arrive in Listvyanka as the evening draws in and head to the comfortable Krestova Pad hotel. After check-in, indulge in a sumptuous champagne dinner.

DAY 5: Listvyanka

Start an action-packed day with breakfast at the hotel, and head into the Siberian forest for an exhilarating snowmobile or zoom across the icy Baikal Lake (around 80 minutes away) on a husky-driven sleigh ride. Enjoy a traditional lunch of smoked Omul fish with a luxurious twist of caviar pancakes, washed down with mulled wine. Later climb up Chersky Rock for stunning views of Lake Baikal after which you’ll be ready for a steam in a Russian Banya. Later, relax with dinner at the hotel.

DAY 6: Irkutsk

After breakfast and check-out, head back to Irkutsk, stopping off at the open-air architectural ethnographic museum to see folk performances. After lunch, head to the traditional village of Ust Orda to meet the mystic Shamans and discover local history in the village museum. Enjoy a traditional dinner at Metelitsa restaurant before you check in to your luxurious Irkutsk hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott.

DAY 7: Novosibirsk

After breakfast at the Courtyard, check out and meet your guide for a tour of the beautiful city of Irkutsk. Take in all the sights and explore the ancient cathedral before lunch. In the afternoon, fly to Novosibirsk where your driver will meet you and take you straight to the DoubleTree hotel. In the evening, head to the Opera House with your guide, to enjoy a breathtaking performance.

DAY 8: Departure

Wake up to an early breakfast at the DoubleTree by Hilton and, after checking out, meet your driver to head to the airport for your onward flight to your next destination, after an unforgettable New Year holiday.
