Lake Toya

Lake Toya is another one of Hokkaido's hidden jewels. The scenery is gorgeous and the ambiance is relaxed, peaceful and safe. There are many activities here available to Remote Lands visitors, including white water rafting. The Windsor Hotel in Toya played host to the G8 Summer back in 2008, which certainly shows it has arrived as a world-class destination. The stratovolcano Mount Usu sits at the southern rim. The lake is about 10 kilometers in diameter from east to west and north to south. Toyako Onsen is the biggest town on the lake and rests to its western side. Some say it's the most transparent lake in all of Japan. Toya means "Lakeland" in the local language. The lake never ices and offers unlimited opportunities for recreation.

White Water Rafting

Gear up with a "dry-suit" to go white water rafting in the river. There are rapids on some portions. This is a lovely, scenic, pristine area. Remote Lands' partner in the area will offer a top notch staff and gear. The company is owned by an Australian who has been in Niseko for 20 years.
