Satpura National Park

Named for the Satpura Hills, a rugged mountain range of gorges, plunging valleys, jagged sandstone, and thickly wooded plains, Satpura National Park is home to a number of endangered and threatened species. Most of the forests consist of tough hardwoods such as teak and ebony, as well as a number of herbs, wildflowers, and grasses; within these forests also dwell Bengal tigers, sambar deer, the rare chital deer, gaur, and Indian leopards.
