Furano

Furano, located in central Hokkaido, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant seasonal attractions. Known as the "Garden of Hokkaido," Furano is famous for its expansive lavender fields, particularly at Farm Tomita, which bloom spectacularly in the summer. In winter, the city transforms into a snowy wonderland, attracting skiers and snowboarders to its world-class slopes. Furano is also celebrated for its local produce, including sweet melons and rich dairy products.

Blue Pond of Biei

Just north of Furano is the small town of Biei which is known for its Shirogane Blue Pond, a naturally blue-colored body of water. The vivid blue hue is a product of natural minerals that have dissolved into the pond over several centuries.

Flower Fields

Furano and Biei’s biggest draw is its wealth of flower fields that bloom throughout the year. Arguably the best can be found at Farm Tomita where large swathes of lavender fields are set against the backdrop of the Tokachi Mountain Range. Hinode Park and Flower Land Kamifurano also offer a variety of flower fields.

Furano Cheese Center

A small boutique factory that makes cheese from local milk, the Furano Cheese Factory welcomes visitors to observe the production of its local camambert-type cheese and try the variety of products. Besides the cheese factory, there is also an ice cream parlor ("ice milk factory") and a pizzeria ("pizza factory"), as well as hands-on workshops for making butter, ice cream, bread and cheese.

Furano Winery

A small winery located on the hillside overlooking Furano, visitors can visit and observe the production process from behind a window as well as taste the wines. There is a small lavender field also located on the hill.
