DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Our 12-day Indian Safari Adventure itinerary is our own unique escape into the wilds of this amazing country. Historic Delhi architecture; tigers, elephants, and ancient curiosities in Panna, Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks; and art deco in Mumbai...it all makes up a dazzling tapestry of urban and rural luxury India.

DAY-TO-DAY

DAY 1: New Delhi

Arrive in New Delhi, India’s bustling capital city, and check in to one of our two recommended luxury hotels: The Lodhi or Imperial Hotel. Once settled in, get acquainted with the city on a tour of its unique historical architecture, from Red Fort, a 17th century fort complex that once served as a residence for Emperors, and Jama Masjid, Delhi’s most famous mosque. Savor some retail therapy in one of the city’s oldest and busiest markets, Chandni Chowk, before heading back to your hotel to relax for the evening.

DAY 2: New Delhi

Many aren’t aware that New Delhi has a thriving contemporary art scene - explore some of its best galleries today on a contemporary art tour of the city. Next up, enjoy a shopping excursion that’s all about you: a guided shopping tour based on your shopping desires, from backwater markets to upscale malls. Finally, take in some of the city’s history with a visit to Humayun’s Tomb, the first garden-tomb in India, and final resting place for the body of Mughal Emperor Humayun, and Qutb Minar, the tallest of its kind in the country.

DAY 3: Panna National Park

Today, you’ll be flying to the ancient temple city of Khajuraho, one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, where you’ll get a sightseeing tour of the city before driving 30 minutes to Panna. Here, you’ll check in to one of our two recommended luxury hotels, either the Taj Pashan Garh, or the Sarai at Toria, in Panna National Park.

DAY 4: Panna National Park

Explore Panna National Park today from the top of a majestic Indian elephant, from which you’ll spot some of the parks most thrilling wildlife, including Indian barking deer, sloth bears, antelope, gazelle-like nilgai, and tigers.

DAY 5: Bandhavgarh National Park

Check out of your hotel this morning and embark on a 3-hour drive to the richly biodiverse Bandhavgarh National Park. Here, you can check in to your luxury hotel, either the Taj Mahua Kothi, or the Samode Safari Lodge. Spend some time getting acquainted with your exotic, thrilling surroundings.

DAY 6: Bandhavgarh National Park

Today you can explore Bandhavgarh National Park to your utmost desire, taking off on game drives, elephant treks, and more. Here, you’re pretty much guaranteed to spot at least a few tigers, who are quite populous in the area, along with barking deer, sambar, nilgai, Indian wolf, hyena and Indian bison.

DAY 7: Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh National Park is also home to an ancient fort here that may date back as long as two millennia, a museum, and a picturesque view from Climber’s Point. Explore these unique sights today, in addition to your daily interaction with the jungle’s inhabitants.

DAY 8: Kanha National Park

Today, you’re heading for Kanha National Park, around 1 hour's drive away, and home to such exotic creatures as the Royal Bengal Tiger, leopards, the sloth bear, Barasingha and Indian wild dog. Upon checking in to your your luxury tented suite at the Taj Banjaar Tola, start your day with a morning birding safari, followed by a game drive in the afternoon.

DAY 9: Kanha National Park

You’ll be exploring more of the Kanha National Park’s expansive grounds today, starting with a morning game drive, upon which you’re bound to catch glimpses of some majestic beasts in their natural habitat. After lunch, relax at your hotel, in your tented suite or by the pool. Wind your day down with an evening game drive.

DAY 10: Kanha National Park

For your last day in Kanha, you’ll embark on a morning elephant safari, known as the jungle’s star attraction. Finish off your day with a final afternoon game drive, where you can wave goodbye to your new exotic friends.

DAY 11: Nagpur/ Mumbai

Today, you’re heading to thrilling Mumbai, home of India’s rich and famous. Check out of your tented suite and drive to Nagpur, a bustling metropolis in Central India. From here, you’ll take off for Mumbai. Check in to your luxury suite at the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, a royal- and celebrity-favorite. Get acquainted with Mumbai on an Art Deco architectural tour of the city. Many are surprised to learn that Mumbai has the second largest number of Art Deco buildings in the world.

DAY 12: Mumbai

Start your final day of your Indian Safari Adventure with a visit to UNESCO World Heritage Site, Victoria Station, and the famous Crawford Market. Finish off your day by visiting the city’s contemporary art galleries. Next, pick up some treasures to take home with you on a bespoke shopping trip with your own Mumbai shopping expert, and finish off your day by perusing the picturesque, upmarket areas of Malabar Hill and Marine Drive. Enjoy the can’t-miss sunset from Marine Drive’s promenade.
