Today you’ll learn all about the history and present of New Delhi, on a full-day tour of Old and New Delhi. See the city’s more modern side as well with a trip to its National Gallery of Modern Art, and enjoy a bit of retail therapy at its world-class shops.

Day 3

Leh

Today you’ll be flying to Leh, part of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Leh has a long and fascinating history that starts with its one-time status as capital of the Himalayan Kingdom of Ladakh. Check into your luxury room and spend the day acclimatizing to your new altitude of 11,562 feet.

The official residence of the Ladakhi royal family, the Stok Palace is a 200-year old four storey palace sitting on a mountainside moraine overlooking the valley. Its 77 rooms & suites are beautifully decorated with colourful hand-painted woodwork and Tibetan rugs, and have magnificent views over the Indus valley.

Leh

After a peaceful night’s sleep, explore your new surroundings by starting with a heritage walking tour of the city, taking in Leh’s well-preserved Old Town and historic buildings. Stop by the Central Asian Museum, home to a collection of historical artefacts from around the area, as well as a library and garden restaurant. Finish your day off with a visit to a charming village, where you can visit a monastery to witness monks young and old chanting and praying.

Leh

Today, you’ll really get in touch with your spiritual side, with visits to the ancient Alchi and Phyang monasteries. Stop in a local village for lunch, before continuing on to visit a Buddhist monk for a private blessing - the perfect ending to your day.

Leh

After a hearty breakfast, pay a visit to Khardungla pass today, said to be the world's highest motorable pass. Next up, pick up some handcrafted souvenirs on a shopping tour of Leh town. Head back to your hotel and relax for the evening.

Day 7

Srinagar

Today, you’re taking off for Srinagar via Delhi. Once arrived, you’ll transfer to your luxury room at Vivanta by Taj - Dal View, overlooking Dal Lake. The lake is also known as the crown jewel of Kashmir, and is lined with Mughal era gardens, parks, and houseboats. Enjoy a languid sunset cruise on the lake this evening.

Srinagar

Wake up bright and early this morning for a boat trip to the floating market, checking out its sights, smells, are goods for sale. Stop and smell the roses in the beautiful 17th-century Mughal Gardens, and pay a visit to the sacred Shankaracharya Temple, which overlooks the city. In the afternoon, stock up on the high-quality rugs and pashminas for which the city is world-renowned.

Srinagar

Gulmarg is a hill station and popular skiing destination around 90 minutes' drive from Srinagar. It’s a low-profile city with a host of outdoor fun. You’ll take a day trip there today, for a skiing trip in some of Asia’s best conditions, a mountain hike, or in the Summer months, horseback riding, water-skiing, and fishing.

Srinagar

Explore the great outdoors of Srinagar today, enjoying a hiking trip through its rugged landscape, or finding out why Kashmir is often called an angler’s paradise, fishing its rich waters. Alternatively, create your own perfect day, enjoying free time to explore the city or relax at your hotel as you please.

Day 11

Shimla

Check out of your hotel today and fly to Chandigarh, a city that receives much international praise for its architecture and urban design. Check in to the Windflower Hall, nestled high in the Himalayas, and get acclimatized once again to your new elevation of 8,250 feet.
