Kudat

Kudat is tucked away in the extreme north of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. Tribes here include the Rungus, who live in longhouses where multi-generational families dwell under the same roof. For centuries, trade with the Philippine Islands flourished here and that link remains today. Kudat's lovely beaches make it a relaxing getaway. For nature lovers, the Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary is one of the main highlights, as is the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center. Sukau, the main village on the mighty Kinabatangan River, offers opportunities for hiking and photography.
